Marlet retirement?

At 38, Steve Marlet must announce "this week, tomorrow (Wednesday) or tomorrow" if he puts an end to long sports career that took him to Auxerre, Lyon, Fulham, Marseille, Wolfsburg, and Lorient Aubervilliers. Quoted Tuesday by the Parisian, the former striker of the Blues (23 caps, 6 goals between 2000 and 2004) could become the assistant coach of Red Star (National), his first club when he returned early in the season (21 matches including 19 as a starter, 2 goals).

Audonien club president, Patrice Haddad, has submitted an offer in this direction a few days ago and awaits a response. "When Steve was signed last season, there was already thinking that." Recently the owner of DEF (high football coach), sesame essential to coach in National, Marlet join his friend on the bench Vincent Doukantie. "Starting with a friend, it would be easier," said he to the newspaper, but lift the veil on its decision.

Holders

I shall never forget his goal against Newcastle and the way he was playing under Coleman before he was tainted by other events. A rather over-maligned player in my view.

Hmmm...

Quite possibly still ranks up there as one of the worst signing we have made.

The best game he ever played for us was his last one.

Sadly, I can think of a number of former players to whom this could be applied.

Still, I wish him luck in his new career.
Finn and Corked Hat, you are forever part of the family.

If memory serves he played wide on his last game and looked very good. We seemed to want him to play and do things where he simply wasn't good enough. Sadly the signing spelt the end for Tigana as well.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

He supposedly was a qualified 10M footballer once too...

It's often the case that successful coaches were not particularly good players ... so maybe he'll prove to be an excellent coach?   :023:

Luckily for Tigana i'm sure he got his fair share of the £5 million that Lyon never recieved .

Not long after he signed, Marlet was as dead as a doornail. This has to be understood or nothing that follows will make any sense.

How random. Just yesterday I was laughing with an Arsenal mate how they 'needed a break' that day at LR when he sliced a corner into his own net.

Absolute fraud that man.

Marlet, AJ & Ruiz - Marquee signings that came without the tent pegs?

Good to see Marlet going into coaching. Future Fulham manager?
