Aston Villa to pounce for Murphy

09:00 AM 07 June, 2012

Danny Murphy could be heading to Aston Villa Football Club.

The 35-year-old is out of contract at Fulham this summer, and was last week included on the list of players they will not be retaining.

This was seen as a surprise by many, as the former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has been a key figure for the Cottagers.

Murphy could still be plying his trade in the Premier League next term, though, with new Villa boss Paul Lambert lining up an offer to lure him to the Midlands.

I hate transfer season. This one is worse though. How many players is that linked away so far? Pog, Demps, Dembele, Etuhu, Murphy, Hangeland, Frei, AJ (gone)

And it's a "pounce" and therefore more substance-just can't see it somehow-but what do I know.

No forum is complete without a silly Belgian participating!

Even if a pending offer from Villa is true, I wouldn't think Danny would want to uproot his family for what is only likely to be a year (2 at max) of football.

The 'released' angle just underlines what a pile of rubbish this story is. If Lambert was going after anyone he would be going back to Norwich for his old player Houlihan, very similar to Murphy centre of everything making Norwich tick
