Pog, AJ are gone and the clearing out has begun...

Who's it going to be?  Dutch league, Bundesliga?  I might take Mario Gomez. :011: :004:  Remember when we were being linked with that guy awhile back? 079.gif  Now he is one of the best strikers in the world.

EJL

I have no idea who would or wouldn't be within our reach.

The German international, 23, is thought to be close to agreeing terms at Craven Cottage after Fulham reached a £15 million agreement with the Bundesliga outfit.

The capture of Gomez, called 'Mr Reliable' by Stuttgart supporters, under the clutches of Arsenal, would complete manager Roy Hodgson's £33m forward line re-vamp following the signing of £6m Bobby Zamora from West Ham and Andy Johnson, who is set to complete his £12m move from Everton later today.

Arsenal play Stuttgart this evening in a pre-season friendly where Arsene Wenger was expecting to run the rule over the highly-rated forward, who scored 28 times in 32 appearances last season, after his representatives supposedly held transfer talks with officials from the north London club yesterday.

Fulham confirmed their Premier League status, against all odds, on the final day of last season and Gomez' arrival would allay any lingering concerns the club would again find themselves embroiled in a relegation fight.

Indeed, it would underline Hodgson's serious intent to have Fulham challenging in the top half of the Premier League.

Gomez has plenty to prove after his dream move to Bayern Munich was ended by a dreadful Euro 2008 tournament, where he failed to score a single goal. With Lukas Podolski, Luca Toni, and Miroslav Klose already on their books coach Jurgen Klinsmann has opted against a move for the player.

Imminent arrival Johnson was in attendance at Fulham's 0-0 stalemate against his former side Crystal Palace for striker Dougie Freedman's testimonial last night.

Johnson was paraded at half-time to a rapturous reception from both sets of supporters and he will be unveiled by Fulham later today after undergoing a routine medical examination.

Hodgson has continued his spending spree with his seventh summer recruit in Sweden full-back Fredrik Stoor, 24, who joins from Rosenborg on a four-year deal for £2 million.

"He is a player I have followed for some time through my contacts with the Swedish national team. I watched him closely with his club side and we did a lot of research on him," said Hodgson.

"Of course I had the opportunity to see him at close hand in the three matches that Sweden played in Euro 2008. and we decided that this was the player for us at right back.

"I'm delighted he has joined us an certainly along with John Pantsil we have excellent cover for that position for the coming season."

I believe a club can actually sign players any time of the year, however the deals won't go through until a transfer window is open.

A good example of this is when we bought Bullard: http://www.fulhamfc.com/Club/News/NewsArticles/2006/April/28/TransferAgreement.aspx
