Looks a much better player defensively. I've always felt Alves is overrated, his defending is not great.

He only had a year left on his contract, told valencia he was going to sign a new one, then barca tapped him up when they realised he had "Barca DNA" ( aka they released him at 16 because they thought he wasnt any good ) and then screwed valencia over, refusing to sign the new contract they offered him. Valencia should have asked for more, especially as Barcelona just stole 3 players from Valencias Alevin side too, but obviously they werent in the driving seat for these negotiations.
