what was the purpose?

Do the sponsers suggest they want to design an all white kit or did the club think it would sell? Are we given a few prototypes and then asked to choose

I must admit I do not know much about the way the kits are decided etc

no idea!   I sell kit to clubs and usually show a whole range, from cheap to top line. They choose a short list, then a kit. However, my clubs do not include Fulham, usually kids from age 8 to 16.  :54:

I think it was to stimulate the heart-rate of our older supporters. It certainly worked out that way in any event.

PR gimmick

All white home kit
All black away kit

similar to the white/black/white home and black/white/black away PR exercise I recall from an early premiership season

Last seasons variation definitely got my pulse rate going......

I'm sure the conversation went a little like this:

Kappa "Here's the kit we're got for you this year, take it or leave it"

FFC "We'll take it, thanks"
Never ever bloody anything ever.
