Very odd way to run the club. In the winter window they needed to invest significantly in the club, ideally signing players on loan. But what do they do, they release or sell several starters and bring in very average players. It's like they'd taken it for granted the club would get relegated and they were trying to cut down the wage bill. But that doesn't really make sense given that they've invested heavily in the summer despite losing all the financial perks of the Premier League. Are they trying to run the club to the ground?

The parachute payment from the premiership now is ridiculous and even more so if you're looking to make a quick buck and you're indian.

I guarentee the Venky's bought Blackburn with the idea to get them relegated, get a parachute payment, invest something of the £60 million and then pocket it. Steve Kean has bought in his ex colleagues in Etuhu and Murphy and you can't complain - the way it's set up just goes to show how much can be made for new investors in getting relegated and then moving up.

Very interesting. Thanks for this. It's an attractive theory.

.
i really think the para payment is designed to help clubs who've signed players on wages they can only pay with the help of the prem tv money, ie, they're not as much as you'd get if you stayed in the prem, but help you adjust to the much lower revenue you'll generate in the championship. no-one profits or makes more money from going down than they would in the prem. a lot of rovers conspiracy theorists think the venky's plan was to make a quick buck from parachute payments, but the fact is, the venky's just made a very bad business decision. they probably took over rovers bc they knew the town of blackburn had a huge asian contingent, wihtout realising that it was a town divided by racial tension and only the white half goes to rovers games!! the whole thing is the football equivalent of the sinclair c5
