Berbatov's debut goal

I just finished watching Bilet's brilliant video  1491 and watched Bebatov's first goal for the 8th or 9th time. I was stunned by the skill involved the first 8 times and continue to shake my head over it. It is so difficult for a striker to get any power or direction on a shot from a pass that places the ball under his feet. Berbatov managed as quick a shift followed by as accurate a shot as anyone can imagine.

I never saw Saha in the season we won promotion to the Prem, but I'd be hard pressed to find a Fulham forward who could duplicate that skill with such ease and poise -- Not McBride, Cole, or AJ, and certainly not Helguson, Zamora, or Pogrebnyak.

If he can stay healthy, this may turn out to be a season to remember -- certainly filled with highlight-reel moments.

In the last 7 years he missed only 2 games due to injury. On the other hand getting to much publicity right now makes him a "legitimate" target to some trigger happy defenders  fp.gif

I got a close up view at the match and it was wonderful to see him anticipate where the ball would go and adjust his footing accordingly. He made a tough chance look easy. And was so confident on the penalty - no doubts he would score.
You came all this way ... and you lost, and you lost.

As mentioned on Match of the day..  you can see Berbatov looking up and checking out where the goal was when running from midfield. When he got the ball from Kaka.. he knew exactly where to strike the ball  without even looking up.  It was such a great finish.

i think it was very similar to Pogs first goal on debut for us. Berba is so much better though, of course.
