Chelsea again involved in a controversial racism incident from a fans gesture in the crowd. This comes what, 5 days after the Clattenberg incident was brought to light? a few weeks after another classic John Terry incident and the Serbia inquiry is now going backwards and forwards from up the road  and now this moron decides to overshadow what was another great game.

Surely a life ban is a bit harsh?  Terry only got a 4 game ban and a bit of a fine.  Or are things different for players/fans?

I don't think there will be as much of a backlash if one fan is banned for life. If Terry had been banned for life or sacked, the saga would have continued? I think banning a fan for the gesture would send out a message and also would be right considering the fact that it's on the back of everything else.

Maybe a backlash is what's needed - actually teach a lesson rather than punish someone who will be forgotten within weeks.

Not that  my utter contempt for Terry is clouding my judgement here ;)
