Frei returns?

It looks as though Frei may be brought back by Jol in time for the Stoke game.  That's good, and I stand by what I said at the time:

"Frei played over 20 1st team matches last season for Fulham. He was hailed as a huge, emerging talent. I was looking forward this season to seeing him being 'rotated' with Kaca on the left wing. In comes Richardson to the squad, apparently brought in by Jol as cover to Riise (good idea!) but actually being used as replacement and cover to Kaca. Following a bad injury, Frei was announced as fully fit for our last home game – and wasn't even on the subs bench! Then, apparently just with three days' notice, he was told he was off on loan to Cardiff until 2nd December (potentially 8 matches). I would argue that he should be rotated with Kaca on the left, to bring him back to full match play with close oversight from our own medical and training support staff."

During Fei's loan spell, Cardiff have played 5 championship games, Frei has played  for less than 90 minutes! I hope his confidence hasn't been damaged from lack of playing time and having been taken off in Cardiff's last defeat, and I hope Jol gives him playing time against Stoke. I also remain convinced we are at risk of losing him to another club.

The Turkish giants are continuing to monitor Frei with their coach Fatih Terim naming the 19-year-old Austrian-born winger as a player of interest to the Istanbul club.

Frei came on as a substitute for Turkey against Denmark in midweek and looks set to commit his international future to his father's country of birth, having played for Switzerland at Under-21 level.

Galatasaray could have been sensing a bargain when Frei was farmed out to Cardiff but injuries to Bryan Ruiz and Alex Kacaniklic could catapult him straight back into the Fulham side when his first month at the Cardiff City Stadium is up.

Frei joined Cardiff on October 26 and boss Martin Jol has revealed he can recall him after 28 days, which means the teenager could be back in the Cottagers squad for the Stoke City game on Saturday.

But you must also admit when we saw Frei last year he made our mouths water when he was going forward !
Not sure though whether he should be a starter against Stoke as we maybe need someone more defensively mature ( Duff ? If he can lay on the left )

really dont see the point of defensively minded playeers at the mo. we have tried it with kieran down the left and gone with baird and diarra and we still leak goals. genuinely believe our only hope is to score more than the oppo. and the pace of ashkan and frei would help us to do that. lets let their midfielders worry more about defending than attacking for once

I for one would love to see him start at Stoke.
The main reason is that he would be extremely motivated, as he was sent out on loan and not played much while away.  He would definitely want to make an impact, and I bet he would be more motivated to prove that he belongs at Fulham fighting for 1st team.

I think Frei will develop into a good premiership player, but perhaps it's worth remembering that, whilst we were all excited by his first appearances, there were many on here who started to wonder whether he was a bit of a one trick pony at the moment. His single aim appeared to be to cut inside with the ball, and defenders seemed to have got him worked out. As with Kaka there were also question marks over whether he gave enough support defensively.

sorry but you have put it may be a reason, and that its a possible reason. neither of those scream im in the know and thats what happenend so it does look like you have made it up. if thats the reason why not just say thats what happened

I am sorry that you feel it was nasty. It was not meant that way. If you read it again it I don't think that you can really find it that it is.

My possible reason did not put the player in a bad light and uses what is known to the general public.

You originally said "it may be . . ." which makes it sound like speculation. Are you now saying with "you did not invent it" that it is based on information that you have heard from those within the club?

The bottom line is that Frei and Kaca are the best talent we have had in years. Hopefully they will both fulfill their enormous potential and go on to be super stars for us
