Jol bemoans star's international knocks

Martin Jol claims Bryan Ruiz's international commitments with Costa Rica are hampering his progress at Fulham due to injury problems.

The Cottagers boss has been unhappy with the way his 27-year-old forward has frequently returned from international duty with his country carrying an injury which has subsequently sidelined him for key Premier League games.

Ruiz is due to return from a hamstring injury, picked up on his previous international outing, for Monday's visit of Newcastle and Jol wants more care taken with him in future.

"This year, he [Ruiz] is much stronger than last year and every time I played him, he was one of our better players, so he's coping with English football," Jol said in the Chronicle.

"But every time he goes to Costa Rica, he comes back with an injury.

"He's captain of his country, so he wants to play there and, of course, we have to allow him to play there, but he had two or three times this
last year when he went and came back with a little problem."

Blackpool Cup Date Confirmed

Fulham's FA Cup with Budweiser Third Round clash with Blackpool at Craven Cottage has been confirmed for Saturday 5th January 2013, with a 3pm kick-off.

Head here for ticket details.

Fulham last met Blackpool during the Seasiders' one-year stay in the Barclays Premier League in the 2010/11 season. After a 2-2 draw at Bloomfield Road in August, the Whites earned a 3-0 win at the Cottage the following April.

Last season, Fulham were knocked out in the Fourth Round of the FA Cup following a 2-1 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park.

NB If you have already signed up for Home Cup Tie and you have changed your credit or debit card, please contact the Club as soon as possible on 0843 208 1234 (option 3).

Travel Trouble!

Boxing Day fixtures, although a feature of the festive period, are becoming more troublesome by the year.

On 26th December this year we`re scheduled to entertain Southampton, at Craven Cottage.

It`s a fixture that many will be looking forward to but a fixture that could well be a pain in the backside to get to.

With the National Rail network shut down for the day, supporters may now have to navigate their way across London without any Tube trains.

It appears that the Tube network could, if a last ballot fails to prevent it from doing so, be closed.

All I`ll say is whatever happened to that famous festive saying - Goodwill to all men?

Brede Staying Put!

Goal.com, I know it`s not the most reliable of sites, are predicting that Brede Hangeland will be remaining at Fulham.

In recent weeks it had been speculated that the Norwegian could be exiting Craven Cottage, however, the aforementioned source believes that pen will be put to magic paper before the New Year

The reasoning behind their belief seems to be drawn from the following quotes they`ve picked up on,

"Brede doesn`t want to go to a high profile club."

"He is low key and money doesn`t motivate him."

Shall we sit back and wait and see if they are right?

Not many Left!

Our next Fulham fix doesn`t come until Monday night when we entertain Newcastle United.

The game is to be televised live on Sky Sports and, thankfully, tickets are selling well.

But, in an attempt to ensure we do have a full house in front of the cameras, we`re doing our bit to push the sale of he last tickets remaining.

It seems that these are available on General Sale and are available for £40 for Adults and £20 for Juniors.

Either get down the Ticket Office or go on loan to snap up those last remaining tickets and make Craven Cottage rock on Monday evening.

Fulham v Newcastle: Martin Jol frustrated by Bryan Ruiz injuries
Fulham v Newcastle: Martin Jol admits his concern at Bryan Ruiz's recent injury woes following international duty

Martin Jol believes Bryan Ruiz's international commitments with Costa Rica are hampering his progress at Fulham this season.

The 27-year-old is set to return to action from a hamstring injury sustained during his last run-out for his country in Monday's Premier League clash against Newcastle United at Craven Cottage.

And Jol has admitted his concern at Ruiz's injury problems in the wake of his recent international outings.

"This year, he [Ruiz] is much stronger than last year and every time I played him, he was one of our better players, so he's coping with English football," Jol told the Fulham & Hammersmith Chronicle.

"But every time he goes to Costa Rica, he comes back with an injury.

"He's captain of his country, so he wants to play there and, of course, we have to allow him to play there, but he had two or three times this last year when he went and came back with a little problem."

Ruiz joined Fulham from FC Twente in August 2011 in a reported £10.6m deal.

Martin Jol has no hard feelings about letting Danny Hoesen leave Fulham

Danny Hoesen: Scored for Ajax against PSV

Fulham boss Martin Jol has no hard feelings about letting Danny Hoesen leave the Cottagers last summer.

Dutch champions Ajax picked up the 21-year old- attacker for a small transfer fee after he was been unable to make the breakthrough at Fulham.
Hoesen, who was signed in 2009 from Fortuna Sittard and returned there on loan last year, scored for Ajax against PSV last weekend, his third goal for the club since his switch.

Jol told Dutch paper Algemeen Dagblad: "Of course I have seen the game against PSV. It's nice for the lad he scored.

"Danny was still too light for the first team. Therefore we let him gain experience at Fortuna.

"The Netherlands is an ideal country for him to develop. Less physical fights, less surviving. Danny really is a decent player. I hope he keeps getting chances at Ajax."

Fulham and Sunderland after Brazilian

Martin Jol wants to freshen squad with 20 year-old striker

Martin Jol is chasing young Brazilian forward Leo Baptistao in a bid to inject youth into the Fulham line-up, according to talkSport.

As it stands, the Whites have one of the oldest starting elevens in the league, despite Jol openly admitting his legacy at the club would be to bring down the average age of the squad.

And the front line is an area that the Dutchman believes could be re-shaped, with both Dimitar Berbatov and Mladen Petric both the wrong side of 30.

Baptistao, at only 20 years of age, fits the bill perfectly.

The Rayo Vallecano player is being watched by other clubs as well, though, with Sunderland and Atletico Madrid considering moves after a fine campaign in Spain so far.

He moved to Rayo at only 16 years of age and this season has seen him shunted into the limelight after the club lost Michu to Swansea City over the summer. With 6 goals to his name so far, his stock is on the rise.

His club, though, are unlikely to be willing to lose another star player after Michu's departure - and subsequent success in Wales - though a £6.5 million release clause on his contract may force their hand.
