Gylfi Sigurdsson

On the topic of transfer targets, I hate watching Gylfi Sigurdson waste his talent at Spurs as he has been doing so far this season. A player of his quality shouldn't be spending as much time on the bench, and it pains me to see a creative outlet who has proven himself in the Premier League with Swansea not manage to get a lot of first team football. With Ruiz out injured at the moment, Berbatov is Fulham's only outlet for creative flair, and I feel Gylfi would fill the role that Fulham need the most. A dead ball specialist, an eye for goal, and a quality midfielder, I feel he would slot into the Fulham side with ease, and could make an instant impact.
Now, right now you probably think I'm being unrealistic at the moment, and rightly so - I'm 80% sure the only reason Gylfi chose Spurs over Swansea and Liverpool is because they offered the highest wage, and I doubt Fulham could match that, however I feel if we were able to get him on a loan until the end of the season it would benefit both clubs, and the player.
He gets the ball, he scores a goal, he loves to play for Martin Jol - Dimitar Berbatov - Fulham's Number Nine!

I certainly would not have minded having him in the summer transfer window but like Dembele he has moved on. He has made his career choice and it not for us to help him or, even more so, Spurs. Yes, he might help us through a rough patch but I would rather get in a player who will be a long term solution or take someone from overseas, like Pogrebnyak, Diarra or Riether, which will not be helping our rivals.

I saw a link this morning putting us together with Christopher McGugan from Forrest. Apparently out of contract at the end of the season.

What's are opinions on him?

I don't know who he is but Lewis mcgugan is a fine player in my opinion.

He wouldn't swap an opportunity of Champions League football for us.

Oiseau

Definitely agree; he was one of my favourite players last season. Would love him on loan in January but there's little chance it'll happen.

Yeah... it must be tough for a supreme talent like Gylfi to sit on the bench week in and week out behind a merely "serviceable Premier League player" (according to most Fulham faithful...  :dft011: )
Just score 3+ goals a game and we will gain promotion...I promise

Thanks for the correction. Not sure where "Christopher" came from, but it sounded right in my head. So I went with it.  :dft001:

Not going to happen.

You referring to Sigurdsson or McGugan? I can understand why not with the former, but would be interested in the "why?" if it's the latter.

Could happen.

There's a lot of talk of Christian Eriksen joining Spurs in January.

If that happens Sigurdsson is going to get even less playing time, meaning he could well be moving on and possibly with Tom Huddlestone.

Burt

Would love to see Sigurdsson here.

And Huddlestone..... He might actually be over his sick note days and ready to fulfill some of that amazing potential

Sigurdsson I can't see happening but McGugan would be a good signing I think

Decent, but I think we can do better. We need a midfield general, doubt McGugan is the answer.

WayneKerrins

We didn't get huddlestone, jenas or Livermore from them despite selling our 3 most technical players and 4 centre mids in the summer so the chances of getting sigurdsson would seem to be less than favorable

I think he could be regretting opting for Spurs over Swansea when he probably prefers to be playing football rather than sat on his arse. If he cant get minutes in the league he cant be thinking that Champions League is his way into the starting 11.
