Captain of a football team is one of the most over rated things in the game.

Sorry do not agree, watch Lee Clarke at Man U when we won there, watch Murph,always talking to the players, Morgan and Coleman were the same, the only one today who seems to adapt to that role apart from Sidwell  is Giorgio.

Totally agree with that. I might not have been Smurphs greatest fan over the last season he was with us, but I cannot fault his captaincy skills. Like ER alluded to, a good captain can communicate with players, and can inspire. I always believed the manager did the job off the pitch and the captain did the same on the pitch, and my views have not changed in that respect.

A leaderless group of players on the pitch is a rabble, reminiscent of what I see wearing the sacred Fulham kit for the past few months, and the current incumbent has as much captaincy skills as my left foot. If not sidders, then our very own Greek Urn would step in nicely, or even Bairdinho at a push.
