The trouble is, in M'Vila case, we were outbid by other English clubs, who in turn were topped by 50% by Rubin Kazan. If reports are correct he is being paid £3.75m a year (£72,000 a week) AFTER TAX. That equates to about £130,000 a week gross under our tax system, so I cannot see there was any way an English club could compete with that.

We do have ambition & I still believe we will bring a few good quality players in but becoming another Portsmouth is not what I want to see
