thumped is a bit of an exaggeration. Deserved to win but hardly played them off the park. Impressed with how Donnelly handled their lump of a centre forward even after being caught twice in aerial battles.

May aswell give some ratings, my hands were freezing so didnt write down enough for a full match report :

Oberschmidt : 6 - massively at fault for the goal but pulled off one great point blank save and has clearly been working on the vocal side of his game over xmas

Sheckleford : 6 - looked shaky against McCarthy who is one of their best players. Valuable experience but Wigley was very critical of him during the game. Good cross for Dembele's goal

Donnelly : 8 - dunno what to say about this boy, just gets better and better. Showed how good he was aerially against their big man up top. Did see him lose a loose ball 50/50 for the first time though.

O'Reilly : 6 - kept giving away fouls against the big man but tidy on the floor as usual.

Evans : 5 - head seemed to be all over the place in the first half, passes off the pitch and a few dodgy crosses. Did better when pushed up to the wing and works well with Richards. Well taken goal.

Roberts : 6 - one of his quieter games, still managed a well taken goal and his directness always causes issues for the oppo left back

Sambou : 6 - another quiet game, did little wrong but didnt impose himself as much as we sat deeper than we should have done

Hyndman : 6 - again a quiet game, kept things ticking over in the middle and battled well when we were on the backfoot a bit in the second half.

Williams : 6 - in and out of the game, may be partly due to Evans behind him not picking him out as much. Few glimpses of his controlled dribbling to start attacks.

Tankovic : 8 - dictated our tempo and started a few breaks, generally caused Saints problems all day. His 1st goal was an excellent finish.

Dembele : 6 - lacklustre in some of his play, attempting a few unwanted flicks and going to the ground too easily on occasions. Took his header really well and won the penalty.

subs :

Richards : 7 - really good game, shackled their winger and bombed forward to good effect

Norman: 6 - little to do but made one outstanding save. He'll be even better than Oberschmidt with so much more to his game than just shot stopping.

O'Halloran : 6 - worked hard but was on just to waste time and hassle players. No time to have an effective contribution.

Why does Noe Baba not feature for the U18s yet?

I read somewhere he was awaiting international clearance. We got it?
