You even said it yourself, he's been a good performer for a couple of seasons with a month or so each year of brilliance. This year is the first time he's been in a long patch of form where he has been pretty much unplayable.

My mate summed it perfectly IMO the other week when the unjust comparisons to Ronaldo where being thrown around by saying that Bale's current form is on par with Ronaldo, but he hasn't shown it for long enough or at the very highest level ( champions league ) for any comparisons with the very best in the world to be fair.

World class for me is... would the player get into a game between the best 22 players in the world.
For example I don't believe one England player is world class. There are four better strikers than Rooney. Cole is not even the best left back for England anymore.

This could turn this into a long thread but....... how would that team sheet look 11 v 11?
I'll start with one.
Right back -Philip Lahm

Count Berbatov

Throw RvP in there please

Berbatov has Cantona's knack of being the man amid a stampede towards the door who stops to notice a side exit that nobody else has seen.

I think so.

Lets just get Messi and Ronaldo out of the way and assume they are a given.

How could I forget ;) . I left Ramos in there because most people would probably have him in there although I really don't like him as a cb.

RVP for me, although toure, david silva, mata, bale, suarez & santi cazorla have also stood out for me this season.

Forever Fulham

Sticking with just the EPL, I have to go with RVP, then maybe Vertonghen, then Suarez (yuck) or Bale.  At the beginning of the season, Fellaini looked great.
