I hadn't reckoned on the manager's tactical ineptitude. he changed the shape and moved ruiz out wide and it killed us stone dead, that plus the change of left back from a decent player to a useless player.

Didn't see when Ruiz was moved to the wing.. Was that before or after he ran through the middle and scored?

And if you seriously, seriously believe that John Arne 'hoof it up the field' Riise is better than Richardson, then you are obviously watching a different team with other LBs. I mean did you actually see Riise trying to defend that ball in the box in the 2nd half? I thought he was terrified to head it.

We signed Riise 10 years too late. He's way past his best now. Time to move him on.

did you go to the game. ruiz spent the second half on the wing, right in front of us. That is not to say he didn't occasionally wander off, and i commend him for it as you say scoring two goals. but on the wing is where he played in the second half just as when hugo came on in the first half ruiz moved deeper into central midfield.
Riis/richardson... richardson is much worse and the defence was really shambolic when he came on (i agree it wasn't all that before) but certainly it was even worse after and actually we needed more punch going forward and not another left back at that time.

no what Jol failed to to do at half time was to motivate the players. Of course, according to Jol that isnt his job and the players should motivate themselves :/
