Just read on the BBC that the Premier League are trying to get a court order banning ISP's from hosting Firstrow EU1 from next season.
FirstRow show every Premier League match live (They are based is Sweden).
Not sure how they can implement this?  If ISP's were able to stop websites, then how come they cannot ban dodgy porn sites etc?  Surely that should be their first focus of attention.   fp.gif
Any thoughts?

They can easily get around it by changing their URL or name. Torrent sites do it all the time.

they already have changed their name. They are now "thefirstrow" they were "firstrowsports" at one point.

As far as it goes, they dont actually host. They just post direct links to OTHER streams. Nothing illegal about what they do (in some countries hosting/providing links is illegal, but in many, it is more than acceptable to show someone elses content WITH their permission, but they wont be charged for whatever that content is.

I think it could be more of a "we do not turn the blind eye" type of thing. They know it is massively difficult to stop a site and impossible to stop sport streaming all together but I guess they have to try.
Beers may have been involved in this post.

money is and always will be their first priority... but no, i doubt they can stop it.

they'd be better off setting up international streaming packages at a reasonable fee / quality... but it's currently more profitable to leverage people into buying massive tv sports packages with a bunch of junk they genuinely do not want.

Well it got successfully blocked in the UK recently. Firstrow tweeted this today. Convenient.

There are plenty of proxies! I found a really good site with HD streaming, by the way. If anyone's interested in checking it out, let me know next match day and I'll find a working link. It is in Swedish, though...

Alternative

The stream was available for the Sunderland game. I also watched PGA golf on stream recently.

I would never pay Sky, BT etc. anyway.
