I once accompanied my closest ever friend [now gone] and his lovely Cockney wife to Yorktown, Virginia where she, at his urging, stood on a table in the battlefield restaurant and said "it's all a mistake. Cornwallis had a headache. It doesn't count. We're taking it all back."

Either that or they were hoping it was true.

I recall the 200th anniversary of the declaration of independence, the BBC made a huge fuss about celebrating it. It's almost as if they are glad we lost.
Anyway, you Texans were still loyal Spaniards at the time, so I hope you had a quiet evening spent in sober contemplation, Mr Don.
