Is Jol actually looking for a playmaker?

I think its fairly widely acknowledged (and I base this on the number of comments on this messageboard) we are short in the area of central midfield creativity. A lot of the names we're being linked with seem to be more defensive minded midfielders, and that takes into account that we've signed Boateng already. I remember reading somewhere (before Jol joined us) that he likes to play with typical back four, two DMs and an attacking diamond with pacey wingers. Are we all wasting our time expecting him to sign a creative force in the middle of the park?

I do think we will sign a creative midfielder, creative for Jol is someone who can pass so I think there is a good chance we will sign Huddlestone

Holders

I was wondering the same thing. Perhaps we've all got stereotyped into looking for someone in the typically-English Murphy role. After all, many people were badgering for a Murph replacement for about two years before he even left! In that case, it explains his persistent interest in Huddlestone. who would fit the role but can still pass.

You make a very good point. Fulham will not break the bank to get the sort of player which skillfully dominates the middle. Therefore, left with the option of midfield battlers which come in at a decent price. Let's not forget, the likes of Sidwell are actually fine footballers who can pass a ball, despite supporters who only see the mistakes.. Their job is to give it to the skilled guys, Duff, Berbs etc. Makes sense I think.

I do think Huddlestone would be an excellent addition.

What about a defensive playmaker?  Not all holding players are destroyers.

I don't think so. I believe he's after an X-Box...

I think it would be reasonable to assume that he's trying to bring in a Xabi Alonso style player, but obviously in our price range. Someone like a Huddlestone or McCarthy who has a good passing range, but can also dig in.

I think he was hoping that Sidwell could fill that role, but he just doesnt offer enough creatively. And on that note, where does Sidwell go from here if we bring a Huddlestone in? Especially if Enoh joins aswell.

i dont think he is sadly
I think he feels Ruiz is the answer to everything

Ruiz IS the answer but only if the question is who has the best hair...

Cravenawin

Personally think a decent left back is more of a priority.

Why don't you ask him because how the do we know who he wants to buy??

Count Berbatov

Jol should and there's still time. But we might need to make our peace with the fact that he isn't going to break the bank. And end up not getting one

Berbatov has Cantona's knack of being the man amid a stampede towards the door who stops to notice a side exit that nobody else has seen.

Need a good DM who can pick up the ball off the back 4 under pressure and release our top 4 quicker than we have done on occasion. Someone who can dictate tempo a bit, which doesn't mean just playing safe 10 yard balls all game. I think Huddlestone is a great answer to that problem (there are sure to be many others) but I am worried that if he gets caught in possession twice against Sunderland he will be labelled as Satan's disciple.

Maybe Chris David will be the dogs?
