Has anyone found or does Dino know of a forum to support the jags. With our new owner and partner team I think it's just right we show support across the pond.
I may need someone to teach me the rules to American football though

Go jaguars.

Forever Fulham

Here's what you need to know.  The sport is in a slow death spiral.  Mothers are keeping their children out of school teams and 'Pop Warner' (nonschool recreation) leagues in ever increasing numbers.  The concussion injury studies are damning.  The players have a massive class action suit against the league, claiming it covered up its own studies about the effects of concussions, the likelihood of getting a concussion playing the game, the incidents of concussions.  It doesn't matter if you have state of the art helmets.  When 250-to-350 monsters collide into each other, especially with all the performance enhancing drugs making them nuttier and unnaturally stronger, and their helmets come in contact, the brain is suddenly forced to the back of the brain pan, like a boxer taking a punch to the head, but sometimes worse, as an arm throwing a punch cant be equated with enormous men running full speed at each other.  Some predict the game will become even more ghetto-ized than it is now because of the concussion scare, and the scare of advanced arthritis and other maladies that appear in young player retirees.  So, if suburban moms are saying 'no' in increasing numbers, then who is left to play the game?  And if you haven't played the game--at any level--you have less interest in it.  Too many other divertisements compete for your ever-shrinking free time.  Your smart phone.  Online gaming.  Hand held device gaming, incessant texting, posting of inane sentence fragments to one another...   But it isn't just NFL football that is running on vapors (ticket prices are ridiculous).  Most baseball teams are seeing trailing attendance figures.  And low TV ratings.  The NHL hockey league and its players union have shot themselves in the foot so many times that, today, you have to hunt to find a game being broadcast on first or second tier TV network.  The NBA?  I'd have to check, but I suspect fan interest is flagging.  Suburban kids, middle class, upper middle class, lower middle class, they are playing soccer.  It doesn't take much to forecast a rosier picture for U.S. soccer.

lol, this is pretty spot on in the long (long) term.

got to quote the simpsons here, a flashback to Homer's youth...
Quote
Grandma Simpson: Abe, isn't Homer cute?
Abe: Probably. I'm trying to watch the Super Bowl. If people don't support this thing, it might not make it.
It still has a massive following, however, as the violence is easy to romanticize at least in the American market. People have been well aware of the dangers of concussions in football for decades, though it has recently had better media exposure than ever. Baseball is flagging due to ADHD culture. It is deathly boring to watch unless you're drunk or at least in good company.

I guess the main thing to note is that it operates on a rigged economy of caps and drafts that only vaguely approximate a proper competition. Bit odd how a number of major American sports operate closer to socialism and the European leagues favor the hard core capitalist approach.  086.gif

The official website is here.

http://www.jaguars.com/

You would go to the Fanzone header and choose "Messageboard" for the official forum.  There might be a more actice forum made by the fans like this one, but not being a Jaguar fan, I'm not sure what it is.

I wonder if FUlham fans will be as "welcomed" on the Jaguar forums as Dempsey fans were "welcomed" here.  What Fulham fans need to do is go on the forum and suggest the Jaguars draft/sign every English rugby player and tout them as being as good as any star in the NFL.  That will help.   :005:

New York Giants and Victor Cruzzzzzzz!

NadsFromMauritius

Is American Football the same as French Rugby? I've seen some matches, and I totally love it (mainly the fights which are kind of brutal). The players are like gladiators and when I watch a match, I'm more like under the impression that I'm visualising a fighting game.

Well the same can be said for the Bills

Having just spent wheel barrow loads of money, I hope the new owner is aware we have RELEGATION in this country. Not USA style franchises.
Otherwise he might wake up tomorrow with a very large headache :005:

Forever Fulham

The only Florida NFL team I ever followed was the great Dolphins team of the 70s.  Anybody on this board remember their perfect season?  Bob (The Professor) Griese, Mercury Morris, Jim Kicke, Larry Czonka (still one of the greatest short yardage power fullbacks to ever play the game), Garo Ypremian (sp?) the diminutive kicker.  That was a team.
