THE Parker/Modric partnership at Spurs was great with Modric providing the attacking skills and Parker acting as the minder.
Problem is we do not have a Modric and therefore no need for the minder.

I like Parker for all the positive reasons mentioned. OK so he's nearly 33 but that still gives him a good 2-3 years. 3.5 Mill is a tad expensive but who would deny that he is definitely an upgrade on what we have ? Also, it's not like we can't afford it. I reckon it would be a great signing. Another thing - have you noticed that when we sign 'experienced' players they are rejuvenated here ? Damien Duff/Digger spring to mind..

ill deny it, who in our current central midfield is he better than? and jesus if we are still relying on 34 year olds after this season the drop will surely beckon.

I think we have a problem with a left back that can't play 20 minutes each week, but that's for another thread  :012:

BARGAIN
Is it, its a 10M plus cost to the club for 3 years with no resale value. he will only turn into a bargain if he plays the full 3 years and we progress.

rusty shackleford

Who cares about resale value, its not as if we re-invest it in the squad anyway

Money in from transfers over last couple of years has all gone back to buy or sign players. Its almost a balanced budget that way.
Jol's transfers in and out value wise are almost the same, and that's not including signing on fees for 'freebies'

RaySmith

But the club will make money from the higher finish, and possible cup runs we will have from having Parker playing for us - plus he might well  stay on at the club as part of the coaching stuff - adding his experience and know how to help the club make more money in the future.
