Well drilled ,fit and together??
We had to sell Dembele because of a sell clause and the "greedy yank" went with him!

Another day, another PR disaster for Jol. Someone at at the club needs to school him on the messages he's sending out.

I've mentioned before that Jol has no excuses- before he joined we were in Europe, had reached a European final the previous season, were a consistent top ten club with a well drilled squad, one of the best home records in the league and a solid defense. Now we are just a mess, and whoever's fault that it the buck stops with him.

His comments were certainly ill-judged (again).

I think the Khan plan was to see how Jol went this season as he's due to go at the end anyway. Assuming it looks like we're going to stay up that may still be the plan as there will be a better pick of replacements available in the summer. If that's the case we could be in for another pretty depressing season.

Of course, they may already have a plan B to Meulensteen in the wings or, if not, may have no choice but to replace Jol if performances don't improve. I'd hate to see us get in someone less good than we might get in the summer if we could hang on until then. But then I don't know who they might be considering.

Oh no we haven't, turned us down flat, more money in Qatar

Or..

Maybe playing second fiddle to someone who is entirely, completely incapable of doing the job only to get left in charge of a team which cannot sustain itself in the Championship didn't sit pretty with him?

You have to remember that, "It's not easy".

Consistently playing ineffective football is, "Not what we want".

He's been saying things like this for weeks, surprised some of you have only just noticed. Party line is 'we are lucky to have him'

To put it another way, would Meulensteen have been Khan's first choice if Jol had got us through to the summer satisfactorily?

I think you are being a bit harsh re MAF but otherwise in agreement.

For me, Jol is the most destructive and incompetent manager, relative to the league we have been in at the time, we have had during the 50+ years I've been a supporter and he cannot go too quickly. He inherited a well drilled, fit, and "together" squad and has reduced us to the rubbish we've seen this season AND he talks palpable crap to the media when he should be keeping his huge mouth firmly shut. Obviously seldom engages what passes for a brain before he speaks.

My only hope is that you are wrong in one respect - it won't be too late when he goes. We were in my view lucky to get all three points against both Sunderland and Stoke, but they mean we are by no means cut off and adrift in the table which our play to date merits. If it takes a couple more bad results for the new owner to act, there will still be the bulk of the season to go and provided the replacement is even half competent we have the squad, when properly drilled and motivated, to keep us in the Premiership.

Well said. I agree with your sentiments. I've said it all along from a couple years ago that Jol will do some severe damage by the time he's done with us. We need to make a change really soon if we want a chance to survive. I'm afraid Jol's too one dimensional and we need someone who can adapt to who we are and build a team that plays to who we are as a club. We are a club that works hard at what we achieve at the end of the season. We are a club that thrives on team spirit, fighting spirit, a sense of family fighting for the club. Jol doesn't understand who we are as a club and you can see that even in the beginning of his reign when he began to destroy our best centerback pairing, and over the years of bringing in signings who do not fit who we really are.

Jol neither understands Fulham Football Club nor does he respect it.  He arrogantly spouts about turning us into a good club ignoring the fact that we were precisely that (but sadly no longer are) and also have a rich heritage of great players, decent teams and enjoyable football.
He patronises the fans who have followed the club through thick and thin for many years and abuses players (except his untouchables) seemingly without rhyme or reason.
He has a high opinion of himself but little regard for club, players or fans.
I love my club, it was my father's and my grandfather's too.  I even had an Aunt who worked at the Cottage. I am proud to support Fulham, proud to support a real club with a heart and soul.  I have had the privilege to watch an FA cup final, a Euro final and some fantastic league performances and I have endured some dross in the lowest division.  Through it all my commitment to the club has never wavered.
Roy understood the spirit of Fulham and treated us with great respect, I will always be grateful. Jol has no idea he is delusionally self obsessed.

Excellent post, I agree totally.
Watching the ups and downs since 1958, wouldn't have it any other way, what a roller coaster of a club.

Very well put.  Great post.

Does anyone think a petition presented to the board to get Jol out of our club would be viable?

Well said, Twig.

Martin Jol may be a fine fellow, kind to pensioners, children and widows, and all that. Sadly, his term as manager has coincided with the decline of a team that marched through bigger clubs to a European final. I don't care if all the excuses in the Guardian piece are true; the team has been playing poorly for much of last season and all of this one, so far, because (1) other managers have figured out how to defend Berbatov and (2) Jol's big purchase, Ruiz, seems capable only of occasional moments of brilliance drowning in a sea of poor passes and lost possession. Other teams have adjusted, but Jol seems incapable of or unwilling to do the same. Even with two lucky wins, in games where we were outplayed (by independent accounts), we remain tied for a bottom 3 spot. No one wants to see us lose to Palace, but does anyone believe Jol is capable of coaching this lot to anything better than being run off the pitch at Southampton? This could get really ugly.

I would like to think that the Board share at least some of our concerns and are aware of our views.  I don't think a petition would do any harm and might further emphasise just how much he has lost the fanbase. I for one would sign in a flash.

However, I have to credit the Board with the sense to know full well that there is a need for change and trust them to make the right change at the right time - but it is all a bit squeaky bum isn't it!

I don't think a petition is needed. I would just send Twig's letter with a covering message to say that it reflects the general view and feelings of Fulham supporters on this forum. Very good letter, Twig.

It's all been said, over and over and over. Can't believe Jol is still here.
