Isn't the assistant supposed to check the nets before KO?  Still, it seemed the right decision in the end.

Humbled

didn't this happen in a game the other week also?

also Barnet had a goal scrubbed off yesterday in the 90th minute that was a bit of a dodgy decision

Who remembers the game at the Cottage in the late-ish 'sixties where the ref checked the nets before the kick-off, and wasn't satisfied with the net at the Hammersmith End. Someone was despatched to the cottage to get an extra peg or two, but for the game to start on time, Vic Halom, (who must've been the sub) had to stand there with his foot on the net until the peg arrived and was put in .....?

Strange how I can remember that bit, but can't bring to mind anything about the game. That's probably a clue to how we played that day!
