After ten matches against the nine other clubs currently in the bottom half our record is
Played 10, Won 6, Drawn 1, Lost 3, Points 19. This is good and must continue, although away trips to Swansea and Cardiff could be tricky.

After 10 matches against those clubs currently in the top half our record is
Played 10, Won 0, Drawn 0, Lost 10, Points 0. I would be very surprised if any other clubs share this record.
This is the area where we must improve and where a couple of wins, maybe
(Hull, Southampton, Newcastle and Everton, all at home) could make all the difference.

You are right.

Most seasons we tend to turn over one or more of the top teams (a point or three) but this has yet to happen this season.

Now RM is in charge hopefully this will change. We put in good shows against Spurs and Citeh, after all. Just need to stop fading in the final 15 minutes.

Good post. Had realised it was a bit like that, but not so very emphatically, so the stats here are (which they aren't always!) very interesting.

It's as you say, with the additional thought that -- on the principle of reversion to the mean -- we are due a sizeable proportion of draws in the coming months.

You need to win all home games against bottom 10 clubs and draw away to them to get 40 points.

At 1.9 points a game average against those 9 teams is not quite enough (only gets 34 points).

So you are correct. We needs to pick up some 'extra' points somewhere. We NEED to grind out some draws. We need a couple of those 'Roy special' nil-all snore feasts away from home!
