I'm warming to Curbishley

When Butch Wilkins and Alan Curbishley were appointed to aid Rene Meulensteen, my heart sunk.  Under RM, Fulham had started playing the style the sloth-like Jol had neglected; fast-paced attacking football and a recipe for success.

Both 'Curbs' and Wilkins are negative operators and one feared their influence would disrupt the enterprising philosophy adopted by our Dutch coach.  On the first game in the job, Fulham lost in a manner befitting of the previous regime; a 0-6 hammering at Hull Tigers.

But the match with Norwich was a revelation.  Meulensteen's comments pre-match, that the staff were very aware of what was wrong with the defense and how Curbishley left his grand stand view during the game, and the reason why his was sat there.  RM said because one gets a better view from there then at the dugout.

This helped allay my concerns, that Curbs was doing little, or even waiting in the wings to take over from a failed Meulensteen management.  He came down during the Norwich game to offer advice and Fulham produced a really good display in beating the Canaries and keeping a clean sheet.

We were unfortunate against the "Arse" but Fulham do seem to be playing the right way and the introduction of Dan Burn (great name) shows we are addressing the problems at the back.

Its hard to know who to warm to when you don't know who's in charge of what.

You don't need to know who is in charge of what, as long as the players do, i just don't know why people think there is some sort of confusion, the players will know exactly who does what and why.
Story of my life
"I was looking back to see if she was looking back to see if i was looking back at her"
Sadly she wasn't

Steve Sidwell even got asked this on Goals on Sunday last week. His reply was we all know Rene is in charge, Ray and Alan are there for Rene and us players to go to if we need an opinion or advice.

They could save a lot of money by doing what I do !!
We're a small company with 20 full time staff (up to 50 in the 'season')
We can't afford a full time HR person, so I do a lot of it (hiring, firing,
dissability, workers comp, insurances etc etc.)
I stumble along but have a freelance HR specialist who I can phone,
with questions on things I don't know about.
I always start the phone conversation with:
"Hi Jennifer, I've got a $50, $100, $150 ot you need to give me a price" question.
Probably in professional football it would be 500, 1,000, 1500 etc per question (or a lot more)
But and my point is; how much money could we save if every time Rene needed an opinion or advice
he phoned up a freelance expert and asked them.
We'd get our money back if the question was "How can we stop Adam Johnson scoring" ?
No Payroll, Tax deductions, Insurances, Health coverage, Company car, Cell phones etc.
Pay as you go and say no more John.

The more I see of Wilkins, the more he seems to be morphing into Uncle Fester......

"Da da da Da, *click* *click*

"He looks like Fester's Brother,
When he'd pass to another,
'twas one side to the other,
Dee dah dee dah dee dee.."
