Very disappointed, after we more than matched them in the first half and completely vanished in the second.

Have to say that Brede was at fault for two of the goals but then again, he is a left sided player and the zSouthampton side fully exploited that but there you go, they played football and we did'nt.

the main difference was that they always had an out ball, there were always players spare for them, when we had it in midfield we only seemed to find a player 5 yds away and eventually gave the ball away. You have to hold your hand up and say they were the better team an their clinical finishing put us to sword.

Chances for Brede and as usual, Bent, being missed meant that as soon as half time comes at 0-0 we brick it.

Without wishing to detract from the deficiencies we still need to fix, Southampton are a class act this season. They were quick to close us down, their overall workrate and movement was terrific, they were composed on the ball, their passing was incisive, and the finishes were clinical.

Indeed, all the attributes I would dearly love to see in our team. And soon, before it is too late.

Totally agree Bill, our set up and tactics were all wrong just lump it up in the direction of Bent second half, never troubled their GK at all second half, 4-5-1 is rubbish especially at home.

It was a decision to play all our midfielders thus sacrificing width.

Parker or Sidwell need to be ditched in favour of a winger and there needs to be a realisation that Bent, Duff and probably Dempsey no longer cut it. The games got faster as they've got slower and the midfield needs to be able to spread the play.

I also suspect that Rene needs a summer to ditch the deadwood and a preseason to maximise fitness.

This season we're f****d.
