Only a thought I might be crazy just I feel even when we get Mitraglou he will be isolated at times which is fine when your away to the likes of Utd & City but against the lower teams especially at home we should be looking to push them back & 2 strikers will help us do that I feel

                       Stekelenburg
Riether       Heitinga Hangeland      Richardson
Dejagah          Kvist Parker          Holtby
                   Mitraglou Rodallega

Rodallega will open up space with his work rate, I remember us being 4-4-2 in the great escape year.

I'm sure I will get some stick for my views here I just feel we need to be more positive when we are at home against a team around us in the table

people keep saying 4-4-2 was old time tactics, I dont think it is though!

I think we should be looking at a more youthful team either way, my preferred formation would be this
                      Steklenberg
Riether     Heitinga     Hangeland   Richardson
               Kvist        Parker
Dejagah             Holtby            Tankovic
                   Mitroglu

Subs : Stockdale, Burn, Sidwell, Kasami, Tunnicliffe, Rodallega, Dembele

I dont agree with Heitinga. Burn was great on the w/e and needs to start every game imo.

He'll learn heaps more playing alongside Hangeland against PL opposition.
Keep him going.

4-4-2 is ok tho against lower opposition.

But imo 4-5-1 against the better teams is what we need.
Ive said it before, against Citeh we played great, (even tho we lost).

                  Stekelenburg
Riether       Burn   Hangeland      Richardson
Dejagah     Kvist Parker Holtby     Kaca
           Mitraglou (if fit) or Rodallega

The wingers need to cover the full backs against the better teams like Man Utd /Liverpool/Chelsea.

Just my opinion.

COYW!

Siblings, let us not be down on it.
One total catastrophe like this...is just the beginning !

not a bad idea, i just concerned that we will kill Burn's confidence if we keep shipping 3 goals plus a game

He has the potential to be a great centre back in the future

i was a semi professional centre back up until this summer (see my avatar against Trotta :) ) and i do take that on board but in my experiance, i would go into them thinking that this is not down to me directly. the team is playing badly defensively but i am here to learn and the fact i have to defend for 90+ minutes is a good thing in a career development aspect.
i know thats a bit of a selfish point of view in respect to "no I in team" just a thought of what would be a possibility
it will make him a better player for it next year should the worst happen and we go down. he will have the experience of being laid "seige" too

Julius Geezer

Don't think there's enough cutting edge in this side playing a 4-4-2.

Holtby wouldn't be utilised for starters.

with hes leadership that was shown in FA cup match and Arsenal, he deffo looked like a very proffesional player who can handle conceding goals, he may even grow on it cus when Hangeland was poor he even commanded at him!
