At least he showed emotion, these players give the impression they don't care, they are still gettin paid at the end off the day.

I would be mad p1ssed off if you were the striker and you get taken off and there is no striker to replace you, that's an insult , "I'm gonna replace you with a winger and put an attacking midfielder in your position"

David Hamilton's announcement comes after the board is shown and player and crowd already know about the substitution.

Not necessarily so for TV viewers.

There were still two sets of cheers, one for each name. This suggests Hugo's name was cheered off IMO

Well I was there and he wasn't.

:plus one:

I dont want to get in to a petty argument as I've already said that I dont think that the cheers (or no cheers) were the reason he was upset but the I copy & pasted this from the first article in 'Wednesday Fulham stuff'.

"Inconsolable Rodallega shows discontent after being dragged off as Sheffield United knock Fulham out of FA Cup

Fulham midfielder Hugo Rodallega seemed inconsolable after being substituted during Fulham's FA Cup fourth round replay defeat to Sheffield United on Tuesday night.

After his substitution on the hour mark, Rodallega sulked towards the bench before sitting down and covering his head with a coat for several minutes.

The Columbian forward had been having a poor game and his removal was roundly cheered by Fulham fans at Craven Cottage which wouldn't have helped his mood."

Whether or not you or anyone else in this thread heard it, it happened. people there heard and saw it. Just because one person didn't hear it doesn't mean it didn't happen. Nor does trolling with a +1 ;)

Some individuals may well have cheered - the crowd as a whole certainly didn't.

Most of us were too cold, wet and miserable to cheer about anything.

This is why we are in the league, our players are so fragile they cry at being taken off. Another embarassment for the club. Genuinely feel the players are not fit for the fight, mentally not tough enough. Terminate the contract, ship him off to the Championship as a free agent. You want to get Fulham out of this mess, man up and start fighting for everything. That applies to every senior pro at this club, about time someone sorted these players out. Cancel contracts and let the football world know the reason is they're gutless, passionless fragile little lambs.

Imagine Pulis was in charge sticking his boot in to their ego's, there would be tears, tantrums and strops left right and centre.
Live in Falmouth!

David Allen Crankshaw

Probably upset that he was taken off and Dempsey was still on the pitch. Felt sorry for him. Dempsey did his usual trick of trying to land on his backside as often as possible.

Arthur

I see nothing here to justify Rodallega's behaviour. If the suggestion is true that he reacted badly to being taken off because he felt that others had been no less poor than him, I would regard this as childish. He may have thought that he was hard done-by, but which player wouldn't? And you can be absolutely certain that if ever he were playing and a team-mate less deserving was about to be hauled off, there is not a cat-in-hell's chance that Rodallega would ask to be substituted instead.

If he feels the need to show his displeasure, there is a time and a place to air grievances - and it's not in front of the supporters and media.

TonyGilroy

It really wasn't demonstrative - he just looked shocked and upset.

Lighthouse

He merely showed he was upset. The rest showed no passion so I applaud him. He didn't argue he juwst looked shocked. Like many of us. The tie was finished from then on because the ball was lost every time Dempsey had and nobody was running off him.

This is the footnote to an article for The Standard:

... The club are bottom of the League and their season hit a new low when they crashed out of the FA Cup to Sheffield United on Tuesday.

Hugo Rodallega appeared to be in tears when he was substituted during the tie and has accused Meulensteen of showing him a lack of respect.

The forward told Colombian TV show Kick Off: "I have no relationship with the new manager and I think he has been disrespectful. He always keeps his forwards on whether or not they are playing well so I don't know why he did this to me. It broke my heart. I've never gone through a situation like the one on Tuesday in my career. I couldn't sleep that night."

Man up, Hugo.

And don't be publicly undermining the manager who is charged with making such decisions; it is disrespectful to the Club and I now have far less respect for you.

Lighthouse

Not sure it is Hugo that needs to man up. He was upset but did nothing but look deeply shocked. He was clearly puzzled by the decision. His interview afterwards  showed this. As for undermining the manager. Did anybody watching live or on telly think that taking off the only striker against a 3rd division struggling side and leaving a half paced, out of form player up front was going to make the game better?

Rene got it horribly wrong and it is about time the Fulham players showed half the heart Rodders does. I was equally upset by the way the joke of a team behaved against a poor third division side. I was deeply upset by the poor decisons from our coach and or managers. I thank Hugo for showing the only bit of passion. Our team needs to man up and look as if they care. The cup game was the last straw.

I think they should have all started crying like that - I know I did.

To see a squad of highly paid, mainly international, professional footballers put in such a pathetic moribund effort as that made me feel frankly ashamed of the team - about the second time ever in 39 years following them. I hope they feel suitably embarrased. At least Hugo demonstrated some emotion, some feeling.

I liked him so much when he played for Wigan - If only he could recapture his form, but I doubt he will now.

Burt

Agree with Lighthouse and NorfolkJim.

I thought it wouldn't get worse than after Southampton dumped us to the bottom of the table.

But boy, was I wrong.

We sent out a strong side in the FAC which showed no heart and were beaten by a team in the relegation doo-doo two leagues below us and who played their second XI as they had some key players missing (suspension, injury, or rested for the "more important" match v Shrewsbury this coming weekend).

And it wasn't just the lack of heart that hurt. It was the fact that this represented a real opportunity to progress - the draw for the next round was relatively kind to us, and in pitting four of the favourites together would have reduced the number of "big beasts" in the following round.

But that was then.

Time to move on.

The team need to pick themselves up, dust themselves down, and move on.

As do I...

Baszab

agreed Burt............................nevertheless 3 days later and I still can't fathom why we would take off our only striker - Roddellega never had a chance to do anything really,  except for a few overhit "through " passes from Hangeland ----- does make one wonder about our management team though

bucksfulham

If what the media are reporting is what Rodellega actually said about respect is true, I would be surprised to see him in a Fulham shirt again.

aaronmcguigan

Man Up! Talk to Meulensteen instead of sobbing into a towel... Talk to Meulensteen instead of a Colombian TV channel.

Keep it internal rather than washing dirty linen in public

Fulham/ RM havent commented on it and thus its being kept internal. Showing heart is one thing but blabbering in public to a TV channel is another. It must be a term or condition of contract to keep internal matters internal.

After his performances last season I'm always surprised to see him in a Fulham shirt

While no player likes to be substituted when his team are playing poorly, every footballer knows that this can and - at times in his career - will happen. Every weekend, there must be dozens of professional footballers who are unhappy or annoyed or puzzled that their manager has reacted to a poor performance by deciding to replace them. Yet, I don't see all of them voicing their displeasure to the media - and I certainly don't see them accusing their manager of being disrespectful.

Disrespectful? Over a substitution! How juvenile!

And whether or not it was the right thing to do is irrelevant. Such decisions are a matter of opinion - and the person to whom the responsibility is given is the manager.

I reiterate: every player knows that being substituted is part and parcel of being a footballer. If Hugo feels aggrieved (and as the football world now knows - he does), he should sort it out in an adult manner: privately. There can be no excuse for publicly questioning the manager's intentions.
