If you like the spaghetti western sub-genre ( I guess ), you should definitely check out  "ROME: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" by Danger Mouse and Danielli Luppi featuring Jack White and Norah Jones

It's very good.

Quote from: nose on February 18, 2014, 02:16:50 PMJust seen Parliament/Funkadelic in London at a special concert at a recording studio in Chiswick, only 90 people, and then a Q and a with Clinton on the sunday.

The concert was brilliant we were right next to the band and I had a chance to chat with michael hampton who is  the main man for maggot brain (which IS on my list), I know about Hazel  being brilliant and very innovative but i do prefer Hampton's style and his performance the other day was just out of this world!

Mr Clinton is a very interesting man and very amusing, but has a bad knee so i personally had to help him on and off stage!

That's pretty cool! I would love to see them live, but they're never going to come to Finland and flying to Amsterdam/London/whatever town they play in just to see them would be a bit too much. Back in 2009 I was in London when they were supposed to be playing somewhere in Southwark but I never found any info about it and was gutted I missed it. I also love the stuff he did with Red Hot Chili Peppers on Freaky Styley in the mid-80s. As an interesting note, the man who speaks the first line in Yertle the Turtle on Freaky Styley is Clinton's drug dealer who came to the studio demanding Clinton to pay his debts to him. Clinton having no money offered him a part in the album.

if you do get the chance to see him you must make the effort... take ear plugs he is mighty loud!!! and it is a very unusual experience but amazing
I have been seeing seen him since 1979, and Bootsy the year before. the show has moved on but maggot brain is perenial... nothing else remains... i am still waiting to hear him sing testify......  the show in london was a one off exceptional event look out for the dvd and book! it is supposed to be out in april.. but clinton is never on time.
maybe he never went to finland because nobody ever asked him.

Hey nose, you get your name from Sir Nose D'Voidoffunk?

thanks, I had that on avynil album, I am now going to dust it off!!#

Just listening to the Sun track, it's on youtube, if you like simple funk you may like thta one.

I was keen on war, now the lowrider band, early Kool stuff, and later in the year we are going tosee Tower of Power, and they are about as good as it gets. lat year we saw the Blues Brothers Band and Maceo Parker...   we are also gonna see de las soul in april (i think)..

music is not so exciting noawadays, it's all a bit overproduced for my taste.

It was a relief to see that someone on here actually listens to music made in this century.....I like some of these so will check out the others. Along similar lines check out Mogwai (recent stuff especially), Fuckbuttons, Matmos, Jon Hopkins, Nicolas Jaar solo stuff or as Darkside, DJ Kose, Grumbling Fur, The Knife and Chet Faker is pretty chill too....I should be less lazy and put together a 10 list I suppose, maybe later
Quark, strangeness and charm
