We are almost certainly relegated, to expect a new manager to get almost as many points in 12 games as we have won in 26 is really beyond reason, especially as he is having to work with players chosen by two failed managers.

But what if somehow Magath just managed to pull it off, surely he would then be our ultimate hero, the Great Escape and Roy would be pushed into second place and we would all be looking forward to next season with great expectations.

Of course for the moment Magath is on a win/win situation, if we collect ten points from the twelve games and are relegated he will have done no worse than Jol or Rene without a transfer window to choose his own players. If he could he could collect 18 0r 19 points he becomes a Fulham Legend.

Next season though, in the Championship he will be facing real pressure , surely he will be expected to launch an immediate and serious promotion challenge.

Roy will always be no.1.

Our squad today is, on paper, far better than in the 'great escape' season.

Magath only needs to get the team playing how they to their standard and we should survive, Roy had to get a team lacking in every department to play out of their skins.

Plus, just like in the movies when the bomb only gets diffused at 0.01 seconds, Roy made our escape pretty god-damn exciting! GD on the final day, having been mathematically relegated several times during games.. He sure knew how put on a show..

Be sure if Magath were to lift us up the table clear of relegation it is going to be a nail biter. It would probably depend on the last game of the season in a winner takes all match against Palace at the Cottage. This would be some show.

Magath has said the match against West Brom is the most important match in our history, he may say that eleven more times before the end of the season.
