NFR: Matches if we end up mathematically relegated before season end

If we get mathematically relegated with a few matches remaining, like Reading last year, who is still going to matches until the end of the season?

I thought I'd still go whatever.

Obviously I will add the note that although I fear the worse,  I'm still hoping for the best.

Only missed a handful of home games in last 25 years in all competitions, and I've seen alot worse than what we have at the moment, so I will be at every home game and some of the aways

I suspect if we did get relegated, the matches after relegation will probably be more fun.

They will hopefully be like a celebration of 13 years in the top flight, with no pressure.

Probably not.

There's been precious little enjoyment this season. I think I'd probably give it a miss.

we would still go and like reading I would hope for some freedom in the performances. if there is an up side not too many games would be messed about by the tele next season but I am not so sure we would get two season tickets and I would certainly think about moving out of P2. Mind you its a great view and nosing at the balcony and no oiks .................... uhm. Like you we live in hope but we are looking at three complete turnarounds, a great opportunity to shoot ourselves in the foot which we do so well and Norwich who owe us a game and looked pretty darn good against Spurs.

................... so why am I going to Cardiff and coming home early from a trip to go to The Britannia. When does complete madness set in then?

Berserker

Yep glad you've gone for the madness aspect as well ScallyD. I'm wondering if we will have a police escort back to the train at Cardiff

We might at that. Either way I'm standing behind you all the way. I have no real concerns really but the trains to Taunton and beyond are still mullered and it could be a long wait on the platform. The morning after the Swansea game we had an impromptu Welsh language lesson in Frankie and Bennys so I'll mingle seamlessly dontcha know what lovely borradah.
To be honest some of the lads who like postering and "giving it large" as they say could do with a lesson in moderation. A colleague was in Cardiff when a smallish group of forty somethings took it upon themselves to turn a West Ham mini bus on its side. Thems mad they is!

Good question Mrs B.....I will certainly feel emotional the day the maths finally nail us.

When we were promoted it was like returning home to me as my golden years approaching the teenage cyclone were spent supporting my team in Division 1.

As you can appreciate I am a fully paid up member of the Old Sods and the thought of shelping up the A3 from the South Coast after a dozen years of glory is not a thought to relish.

Surprisingly the idea of Rene shaping our team in the Championship was more appealing to me than the current thirtieth manager I have served under.

I really don't want to address this issue until a later date, however, your post has made me think about wether attending the match itself is everything?

Is it not about as much about the whole match day experience ?
Certainly part of my homage is to the place where I was born and to the ones I loved introducing me to the team we have all loved since my old mans first game in 1909.

Somehow I believe that link will not be broken this or next season.

God Willing
The atmosphere's fresh and the debate lively.

I'll be rolling into Cardiff Central at about 1.15 if you want a beer and a guided walk to the stadium. Never been there before mind.

Yes thats a good idea, i'll prob save putting  my Fulham scarf on till we are in the ground.  Going to book my train at the weekend, not sure how much from Swindon, prob £20?

Are Fulham putting a free coach on for fans from London, shame they didn't have this game cheap as I doubt it will sell out otherwise.

There is a big chunk of one block still to sell so it might be another sit where you like game.

I remember having a police escort back from Cardiffs old ground , Ninain Park once, we got told to stand against the back wall of the away end( before it had a roof put on) as Cardiff fans would lob things over the away end wall.

We got bundled into the back of police vans and taken to the train station, Cardiff fans threw anything and everything at the police bad as we made our way to the train station, they are such nice friendly fans ;-)

Burt

I would still go.

Following Fulham is like marriage - you are committed, through good times and bad  :dft011:

I won't be attending the Palace game if we're relegated before it, thats for sure.

Me-ate-Live, innit??

Mrs B ...........how the hell is this NOT Fulham related
Might I remind you ........................................there are still 33 possible points to be had

Walsh

I love how everybody is still optimistic with "if" we go down but I'm pretty certain we're already going to go down. I'm just preparing myself for the Championship.

Are see Mr Walsh, you are only pretty certain, not 100 % certain, so you deep down think there is a chance we will stay up. Agree with prepare for the worse but definitely hope for the best.

I give ourselves a 1in 5 chance of staying up at best. But I do use 'if' because its not 100% done deal yet. But like yourself I accept we are playing championship football next season, but if we are not then that's great.

That is very much true but after that WBA game I lost all hope. We're not mathematically down but I view our team as a championship team, I think the only Premiership player we have is Holtby and he is currently on loan.

I completely agree, I seem to be getting more negative the older I get. If we were in this situation a couple of years ago I would have probably said don't lose faith... I don't know what's happening to me.
