How did they pull it off, their great escape, didn't they win their last 7 or something? I remember us beating them at home 2-1, they went 1-0 up with with a super shot.

Blanco

I remember them beating United, Arsenal & Liverpool. They also thrashed Newcastle I think. But I remember we beat them 2-1 like you said. Strange.

They were well-coached, played attacking football, and benched Rodallega for the run-in.

Well, you asked.

Wigan won 7 of their last 9 games.

From September 10th to November 6th, they lost EVERY game they played.

March:

Liverpool 1-2 Wigan.
Wigan 2-0 Stoke.
Chelsea 2-1 Wigan.
Wigan 1-0 Manchester United.
Arsenal 1-2 Wigan.
Fulham 2-1 Wigan.
Wigan 4-0 Newcastle.
Blackburn 0-1 Wigan.
Wigan 3-2 Wolves.

Also helped that Shaun Maloney seemed to score every free kick he took and Victor Moses went on a blinding run of form leading to a transfer to Chelsea...

They went from certain candidates to finishing 15th. I called for Roberto Martinez to come here for years, and I'm glad he's showing why I did.

That's some run, can't see us pulling this off, but shows it can be done.

horse1031

how did we beat them?

They were playing for their lives.  I remember they were the best team in the league for 10 games.
