Lewis Holtby believes he still has a future at Tottenham - despite falling out of favour at White Hart Lane.

The German midfielder has been in sparkling form for Fulham since joining on-loan in January and starred as the south west London side beat Norwich to boost their chances of staying in the Premier League.

And Holtby, who moved to Spurs from Schalke in January 2013, claims he can continue to impress when he returns to north London at the end of the season.

"I signed a long contract at Tottenham and I was hoping to have a long future at the club," he told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show. "I still believe I can do that. I have the qualities to play for Tottenham."

When asked why he moved to Fulham, he continued: "I was desperate to get some games. I hate being on the bench. I love playing football and expressing myself. Fulham gave me the chance to play high quality football in the Premier League."

I can't get to the video at the moment. Was curious though, did you take his comments about returning to Spurs as pandering to the club he is contracted to? Or did he seem sincere in wishing to fight for his place? The reason that I ask is that some have implied that he might be persuaded to come to us in the off season. I never thought that too likely, but he does seem happy here. Possibly, he's just happy to have a regular starting position and that is all though.

Importantly, he also said that he feels confident we can stay up, and so does the team, and thinks we can get results from all our remaining games.

I got the impression that he is really enjoying his time at Fulham, and the opportunity for regular Prem football, but definitely hopes to go back to Spurs, where he has a long term contract.

And why wouldn't he? Just as long as he continues to give his all for our cause while he is here, as he has done, and I don't doubt he will - that's all we can ask of him.

He has shown alot of character in working so hard to help his loan club in our relegation fight. I don't begrudge his comments about spurs, they are his actual club and his loyalty is towards them at the end of the day.

This is not really news.  We would not expect someone young to go to another club on loan and say he wanted to turn his back on us and join them.  There was a similar post on here some time back saying Bryan Ruiz still had a future at Fulham.  Do I think he will be with us next season - no.  Does he say he should go? No.  He is still contracted to us.
