When looking at what is on offer on TV these days the potter's wheel should return.

Nostalgia's not what it used to be

Did you not eat in a Golden Egg? The egg and chips was to die for and the fried eggs still sizzled on the plate. Loverly jubberly.

Golden egg eggburger was my favourite. Good chips too.

Peabody

At least egg and chips is veggie. Isn't it?

Holders

Oh, yes, the Golden Egg - along with Happy Eater and Spud-u-Like.

I reckon they should bring back little lions on eggs.

If I hope that In n Out Burgers will spread from west Coast USA and start up in the UK, will that constitute "reverse nostalgia"?

I loved 'The Golden Egg' when I was a kid.
You came all this way ... and you lost, and you lost.

Me too, the one in Hounslow High Street,
Used to be in there on Saturday afternoons chatting up the girls.
It was almost "Happy Days" without Fonzie
VERY DAFT AND A LOT DAFTER THAN I SEEM, SOMETIMES

My nephew once fell asleep into his meal at the Golden Egg after a day at the Zoo - we had to scrape egg & chips off his face.

...and going back a bit......what about the "Black and White Milk Bar" near the Bell pub, and Rossi's ice cream parlour in Lampton Road, which always smelled deliciously of heady vanilla and coffee.

Both places I was taken in by my long-gone parents as a kid. Happy memories.

I only eat Free Range eggs, for health and animal cruelty reasons.

Are'nt you a good boy! We are talking about a chain of Golden Eggs back in the fifties and sixties, so there were no such sensitive ties back then.

Nick Bateman

Even in those days, they didn't have the intensive farming methods we have today, so I'd imagine Golden Eggs were fairer to the egg-layers.  They have recently brought back the Lion stamp so you must be happy with that Peabody.

Either way, you're still stealing, cooking and eating their children.

Just watch out when the Chicken Liberation Front gets a little bit less chicken.
