Off to Olympiacos, treated to a fully blown, all expenses paid holiday by the owner, now seems surplus to requirements, hasn't left Fulham. Never seen a stranger set of events.

I'm still stunned he didn't make the Swiss WC squad.

I thought he had gone. It is hard to keep track.

To be honest, I think the wonder goal at Palace made him look better than he was last season. Runs around a lot, plenty of heart, very bully-ish, but lacks that final bit of finesse. If he stays at Fulham, he can be a monster in the Championship.

Yesterday he posted on Instagram that it was "time to kick a ball again", and today posted a picture of himself at the airport with a plane icon. Does my head in when players are so cryptic.

Couldn't see the Departures board in the background could you???

Did it say Glasgow or Athens?
The atmosphere's fresh and the debate lively.

I don't think there was ever anything to the claim that the owner of Olympiakos was paying for his holiday, just seemed like the press connecting the dots because there were rumors about him going to a team in Greece and then he was on holiday in the Greek islands (like thousands of other people, most of whom are presumably not signing with a Greek team).  As always, it's official when it's official; certainly the reports from early June that he was to sign in the next few days were premature.

Still the best part of two months too go until the transfer window closes.  There's a number of players on that list that I would be surprised to see still around come mid-September.

Why did he get an extended holiday break out of interest?

Back in Athens and having a medical with them as we speak.

Talk of Karagounis also about to finalise a deal with them.

Presumably he trained with the national team right up until the start of June when they announced the squad. I imagine that being on the standby list meant that he wasn't able to go off on holiday until the tournament started.
