I suspect numbers we only had 4 subs and the vast majority of the u21 and several of the u18 squads for last year where up in Scotland

He's a coach for our U21's these days, and he turned out for them last season at Sutton when they were a bit short on numbers too.
Also, the U21's goalkeeping coach Martin Brennan has appeared on the bench a few times when they couldn't get hold of a sub keeper

I wondered why I kept seeing him drinking in putney after games. Just thought he was a massive fan actually, not necessarily on the pay role.
