The Team going forward

Hi all

So a poor night last night. imo the worst team selection of the three so far.
Mr Magoo has said he wants to give everyone a chance and I would like to think
by now, (after 3 games of mixing it up), he should know the lineup.

These are just my opinions so take it easy as we're all a bit sore today.


Positives:-
McCormack is looking sharper every game. We just need to be able to get the ball to him.
Woodrow and Roberts look good and should start.
Hyndman, tho dropped last night, has looked good in the 1st two matches - should start
Parker, although not having a bad game on the last two outings, for me moves the ball too
slowly to utilize our fast attackers.
Burgess and Bodoruv looked good. Cant understand why Burn is not in the 11 as he is
very vocal at marshalling the defence. Something we are sorely lacking.
Stafliids needs to play at left back.
Hoogland looked dodgy towards the end of the match when streaming forward but by
then we had lost our shape and desire to get into space. Otherwise he has been fine.
Joronen is not doing badly, considering he lacks confidence, (still can't work out selling
Stockdale tho). Ho hum.


Hear is my opinion on a diamond team selection:-

Woodrow   McCormack
       Roberts
   Eisfeld   David
       Hyndman
Staffy   Burn/Burgess   Bodurov   Hoogland
          Joronen

Dembele/Roddy/Taggart can come on and switch for McCormack or a midfielder enabling McCormack to switch to top of the diamond to allow three attackers when chasing the game, (unfortunately, I foresee us doing that a lot this season until we tighten up at the back).

I mainly agree but have to say i do not feel a great confidence in the greek.....  Parker's day is well and truely done so i quite like your line up and that is probably the team I would start for the next game.

I would like to see mac more central and also try to get roberts more involved and off the touch line.

I thought when Dembele came on & McC dropped into midfield, they gelled quite well.
Hence my idea on McC as the head of the diamond to give us a 3 man attack (if the situation required it).

Imo the Greek was wasted as a winger. He is better at left back.

You say 'experienced' but leave in Roberts and Hyndman who, admittedly have played well, do lack that essential quality. I'd rather start Tunnicliffe in CM and David RM and bring in the youngsters gradually.

Of the players available, this is probably our best lineup, though I would rotate Kaca and G. Williams, who looked good on Saturday, and switch David/Eisfeld for Roberts, who looks better coming off the bench at the moment.

I was thinking about this today but I don't think we've got the best squad to go with a traditional 4-4-2. Arguably we are strongest in central defence but I'm not sure 3-5-2 would work too well. I'd go 4-2-3-1. If I was in charge on Saturday, I'd go:

Hyndman has been our best player so far this season, no reason to replace him.  I could see David for Roberts, with Roberts coming on as a change of pace.

I actually like this lineup a lot. If we play with one striker, this is the way to go.

Hyndman has to play for me.

I'm just worried that Parker slows down the ball forward too much.
If we score 1st then we control the game as they have to open up.
The way we concede goals at the mo I can't see us breaking down solid, well drilled Championship defences once we are behind. I think we will find this all season in this division.
