Ah I actually have an illustrated copy of Beowulf. I bought it at the NT shop at Avebury for my 8 yr old nephew. It was such a lovely book I thought it would be wasted on him so kept it for myself.

I have happy (and inebriated) memories of Avebury.

Have you ever heard Beowulf read aloud? There's an actor who does it (can't remember his name) and it really brings it to life.

The Seamus Heany edition is my favourite "translation".
