A football club in London (in the South West),
Attracted a fellow who wished to invest.
Mo produced papers which had to be signed...
and the dotted line showed "Shahid Khan", underlined.

The aforesaid club, starved of cash for the sale,
Looked to the new man for fear it should fail.
Injections of cash were anticipated
and the crowds who showed up were frankly elated.

A teutonic saviour was hired by and by,
and the crowds optimism was boundlessly high.
Relegation? "Impossible" our saviour said....
but he was talking out of the top of his head.

Down to the Championship the club soon descended
and club, fans and guv'nor felt quite offended
when our first eight games realised one single point,
And the saviour was told simply to "quit the joint"

A Brains' Trust was gathered, five men, so I've read,
with the finest brains found in a footballer's head.
They argued and wrangled until they were wrecks,
then agreed with the Directors and deposited their cheques.

They'd looked round the clubs, Hull City and Palace,
Then presented our Kit with a real poison chalice.
A couple of chaps who for great outlay came,
One out of position, the other was lame.

So the present, as now is, came to be so
and explains somewhat how we are lying so low.
Starved of investment, with tactics so poor...
It's no little wonder we're down on the floor

...to be continued.....maybe

excellent ----

"a poisoned chalice" is exactly the right description for what KS got - should he ever had accepted it in the first place after 8 games ??  - he did it as a LOYAL employee and one who knew the players and what FFC was all about - that's why he needs a break to pull round this slump in form

Logicalman

Nice one Ron, looking forwards to the second installment mate.  082.gif
Logical is just in the name - don't expect it has anything to do with my thought process, because I AM the man who sold the world.

The Cherries came calling, and set out their stall,
Our attacking was proving to be no use at all,
So Smithy came out; Kit's plan was revised...
And the spectre of Hugo was thus exorcised.

The last sight of Hugo, just a flickering light,
in what proved to be the onset of night.
The ball sped past Betts with monotonous ease
And our heads went down in increasing degrees.

"What went wrong?" might well fill several pages,
But the truth has been known by many for ages.
"Play with some width, Kit!" needs to be shouted
(because if we don't, we tend to get routed).

"Sort out the defenders!" ..they need to get used
to each others' play - like they've been introduced!
Work them together, like brother to brother
'Cos they're playing just like they don't know one another!

Thanks Ron

You must do this more often. You have the talent.
The atmosphere's fresh and the debate lively.
