Free transfer and proven goal scorer at Championship level

Simple question Yes or No?

@rweller

jarv

No, Smith and McC are proven at this level.

fulhamfever

And why not? Scored 15 in 25 games this season for Preston

You said a simple question, yes or no?

I don't really like the guy, and 15 goals in League 1 is not the biggest feat.
@rweller

westcliff white

nope has not been the same at champ level or above since he left leeds.

you said simple yes or no, nut then you ask why. so i gave a reason on mine.

Rhys Lightning 63

Yes, if we didn't have other options available. But we do, so NO
@MattRhys63 - be warned, there will be a lot of nonsense

Jonaldiniho 88

No. Goals are important but don't feel he offers anything else. Ross has an all round game and smith can hold the ball up.

Black, White and Fred

Nope for Beckford. Matt Mills on a free, I could get on board with.

snarks

No

He left leeds because he thought he was to good for them, did nothing anywhere else of note until last season in league 1, where he scored more goals than matt smith, but in a lot more games.

No, and I don't think that you can solely look at goal records to decide, I think you need to delve into whether the goals are conducive to other factors. Somebody like Jermaine Beckford will just score goals, but the goals don't actually help the team to promotion because it doesn't work like that. The best strikers are not just goal scorers, they create and they work for the team.

The question that begs to be asked is why do Bolton not want him? As you say, he's an apparent "proven goal scorer" so why did Neil Lennon decide it best to let this proven goal scorer join Preston North End on loan and bring in Gudjohnsen and Heskey?

Beckford's best goal scoring has always come in League One, but his Championship goal record is pretty average, and I don't think that Beckford is best when it comes to building a team, and he's certainly not best when it comes to building a team for a Championship promotion.

Some of the goals he's scored have been incredible.

He started slowly for Preston but has found confidence, pace and is proving to be quite a signing for them. Don't think he'd come here anyway, wants to work with Grayson in the Championship. No wya would he prefer to be played at left back by simple Symons!

Released by Bolton. I think that says it all.

NC, why do you always use any post to take a pop at Kit even when it is totally unrelated to the topic?  Just wondered.

whilst he's at the helm we could discuss signing Messi,it would be pointless with him as manager. That's why.

Also, the point about Grayson is correct.

So was Matt Mills...wouldn't you have him here?
