Rumour has it that we've been linked with Wolves' centre back Richard Stearman. Thoughts on this?

Experienced Championship CB. Played 40 odd games last season. Definite yes.

Would be very happy with this one. Stearman seems like the right sort of bloke for others to learn from. Hope Rigg can pull it off.

It's been discussed in the silly season thread by quite a few already for others' views.

CHRIS MARTIN IS SO BAD,  WE NOW PRAISE HIM FOR MAKING A RUN.

It's taken us too long to sign him, so no.

When we gave them a right tonking in the Prem and the Pog had his great day, Stearman was absolutely dire and largely to blame for the heavy defeat due to his inept defending.  I know we are a division down now and he certainly has considerable experience at Championship level.

If this report is accurate, then he sounds like he will be at Wolves next year

Richard Stearman has hailed Kenny Jackett as one of the best managers around as the Wolves boss celebrates his second anniversary at Molineux.

Jackett has helped to rejuvenate Stearman's stuttering Wolves career since taking charge of Wolves on May 31, 2013.

Stearman, who has reportedly been the subject of an offer from Wolves' Championship rivals Fulham, has been a regular at centre-back under the former Millwall manager.

The 27-year-old's standout displays last term saw him scoop Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year at the club's end-of-season awards ceremony.

An incredible achievement
When asked to extol the virtues of his gaffer, Stearman quipped: "How long have you got?!"

"First and foremost his coaching, his man-management, his knowledge of the leagues are all very good," the former Leicester City man added.

"He's been very good for me personally with the performances I've put in over the last couple of years.

"His stats don't lie; the amount of points he's amassed as a manager and the wins he's racked up so quickly, so the proof is in the pudding.

"He's one of the very top managers I've played for - look at what he's produced both on and off the pitch here at Wolves.

"It's an incredible achievement and credit has got to go to him."

Jackett's statistics do take some beating.

The 53-year-old set a series of records as he guided Wolves to the League One title in his first season in charge.

Wolves' huge haul of 103 points was a club high.

He also raised the bar for most consecutive league wins (9), most clean sheets (25) and most away wins (14).

And in beating Nottingham Forest in April, Jackett reached 50 league wins quicker than any other Wolves manager in history.

His mission statement at the outset two years ago was to restore the fans' pride and steer Wolves back to the top flight after successive relegations.

And Stearman has every confidence Jackett will succeed.

"He walked through the door and said he wanted us to be in the Premier League and we're aiming for that and we're nearly there," he said.

"We just need to continue to push on, and with the right couple of additions this summer, we can run very close next season.

"I couldn't be happier and I think that shows in the way I've played in the last couple of years.

"It's been an incredible couple of years and I want to continue to push this club to where I've been with it in the past, which is the Premier League."
