Ryan Tunnicliffe charged by Football Association for Twitter comments

The Football Association has charged Fulham's Ryan Tunnicliffe following comments the midfielder made on Twitter which were aimed at Middlesbrough forward Patrick Bamford.

The incident occurred after the Championship playoff final where Aitor Karanka's men were defeated 2-0 by Norwich City at Wembley.

Tunnicliffe wrote on Twitter before the comments were deleted: "Happy that Middlesbrough didn't go up, just for the main fact that @Patrick_Bamford is a sausage boy."

As a result, the FA have charged the 22-year-old with "aggravated misconduct by reference to sexual orientation", which he has until June 11 to appeal.

Tunnicliffe made 41 appearances last season for Fulham and in a loan spell at Blackburn Rovers, scoring one goal.

Richards makes Shots switch Fulham

Tom Richards has joined Aldershot on a free transfer. The 20-year-old, who was out of contract at Craven Cottage, has agreed a one-year deal to return to the Conference side where he had a spell on loan last season. "This is the best move for my career right now," said Richards. "Some people have told me that I'm better than National League level, but here is the best chance for me to play regular football. "The most important thing for me this year is to play games - as nice as it was being at Fulham, I want to be playing first-team football."

Southampton interested in signing Maarten Stekelenburg

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman is after a new shot-stopper this summer and is eyeing up ex-Fulham and Roma man Maarten Stekelenburg, as per the Telegraph.

The Saints had a fantastic debut campaign under Koeman and one of the key reasons behind that was the form of 2014 summer signing Fraser Forster.

The former Celtic man came in and managed to keep 13 clean sheets, which put him comfortably on course to finish as winner of the Golden Glove, only to see himself suffer a serious injury thus ending his season prematurely.

Forster may still be out for a few more months and Koeman is aware his side need competition in between the sticks, which has prompted him to look at Dutch goalkeeper Stekelenburg.

A product of the Ajax youth system, where he followed in the footsteps of Edwin van der Sar, Stekelenburg left Amsterdam after nine years and joined Roma in 2011.

After just two years in the Italian capital, the Dutchman moved to Fulham where he suffered relegation – prompting former manager Felix Magath to interchange between Jesse Joronen and Marcus Bettinelli, prior to the German's sacking.

Stekelenburg, who worked under Koeman at Ajax, was sent out on loan to Monaco for the season, but the French outfit confirmed last month that the 32-year-old would be returning to Fulham this summer.

Koeman has been roundly praised for his transfer dealings, following a traumatic summer for the South Coast club. Saints' boss has already signed fellow Dutchman Eljero Elia this season, as well as signing the likes of Graziano Pelle from the Eredivisie.

Report: Fulham could beat Leeds to signing of Ben Pringle

Leeds United have been joined in the race to sign Rotherham United's out of contract midfielder Ben Pringle by Championship rivals Fulham, via GetWestLondon.

Pringle signed for Rotherham from Derby County in 2011 having previously worked his way into league football after a spell in non-league following his release from West Bromwich Albion as a youngster.

He helped Steve Evans' side to win promotion last season, and he played a key role in their survival in the Championship this term.

Leeds United yet to agree a deal with Sol Bamba

He's out of contract now though, and both Leeds and Fulham are said to be keen on signing him.

Both sides were far closer to relegation than they would have liked this season but they will be targeting a play-off push this next term, something that Rotherham will more than likely not be able to offer Pringle.

The midfielder has a wonderfully talented left foot and would easily slot into both teams on the left of midfield. Fulham's move for Pringle would mean Ross McCormack would be able to play consistently through the middle, after having to fill in on the left at times this campaign.
