The first one was a draft, this is the finished article. Some will still disagree but that's the beauty of football. Even after leaving out one or two it is still a great list and one we should be proud of. Many greats there! I have juggled a few about too

1) Haynes
2) Cohen
3) Rooke (the one exception under 1950)
4) Leggatt
5) Mullery
6) Jezzard
7) Barrett
8) Ivor
9) Saha
10) Coleman
11) Arthur Stevens
12) Langley
13) Mitten
14) Murphy
15) Finnan
16) Morgan
17) Hangeland
18) Bobby Robson
19) Allen Clarke
20) Roy Bentley
21) Boa Morte
22) Tony Macedo
23) Gale
24) McBride
25) Roger Brown
26) Conway
27) Steed
28) Stan Brown
29) Sean Davis
30) Van der sar
31) Mark Schwarzer
32) Callaghan
33) Paul Parker
34) Clint Dempsey
35) Lee Clark
36) Ray Houghton
37) Eddie Lowe
38) Len Quested
39) Aaron Hughes
40) Alain Goma
41) Tosh Chamberlain
42) Rodney Marsh
43) Jim Taylor
44) Joe Bacuzzi
45) Moussa Dembele
46) Gerry Peyton
47) Mitchell
48) Roy Dwight
49) Simon Davies
50) Barry Hayles

I know a few were still left off but I still think the likes of Best and Moore belong on United and West Hams greatest list instead. Wasn't enough room for one or two others suggested but that's my list and I'm sticking to it. Thanks for your help in making it easier to come up with this list   049:gif

Now its up to our current crop of players to break into it!

Good final list and nice to see Fred making it in at 32

Jack Fulham

Ray Houghton, so good he made the list twice. Seems you have room for one more!

Peabody

Good list Danny but I would have liked some more pre 1950

Jim Taylor. Centre Half and England International and Captain of our First Division side
Arthur Rowley. Centre Forward his goals secured our promotion to Division One
Robin Lawlor, Mr reliable.
Ian Black. Goalkeeper

Oh, one more thing, Len Quested also played pre 1950

Despite this, good effort.

Len also finished playing in 1952 so I counted him. I could do the same with Black and Rowley the latter squeezes in just about I think. I tell ya what since I have put Houghton in twice I will let you have the honour of picking one person and you tell me where they slot in. Depending on where you think Houghton should actually go and then I will juggle the rest of the numbers to suit.

Danny how about Jimmy Hill?
Maybe not a brilliant player but Fulham great in many other ways.

Thats why I didnt include him. When I made it top 50 adding an extra 10 players he was on the shortlist but everyone old enough to have seen him has told me he wasn't that great a player.

This list is greatest players, if it was greatest fulham people then Jimmy would be in the top 10 as well as Mo and possibly Woy. But his efforts and legacy off the pitch cant be the reason just like Best cant be there because he is a legend of the game.

If Peabody doesnt reply tonight then you can have he say and if either of you feel Hill should be there then thats good enough for me.

I had to sneak Barry in there at 50, good old Bazza!

Peabody

Len Quested was inexplicably transferred to Huddersfield in exchange for a centre forward called Jeff Taylor, who was a better opera singer than he was a footballer.

Thank you Danny, I go for Jim Taylor and would put him at 43

Travers Barney

James Guy Taylor...I'll go with Peabody as any reasoned man would...coyw
We are the whites

Done! And now we have the perfect list......I think  :54:

Can't help thinking that Maurice Cook should be in there somewhere. And dear old Jimmy Hill - loved and laughed at maybe but his head or pointy knees were often in front of goal for Johnny to bounce the ball off into the net.
Don't speak wisdom into the ears of fools.

You know what now I know why Houghton was added twice by accident. Maurice was in there originally and when I updated the list I took him out to move him further back as others said he was too high. I had so many names written down that I must have forgotten to put him back. He is there in spirit anyway and I am addicted to this list now so it may even become top 100 and Jimmy and Maurice will then find themselves in the fifties.

Everyone I speak to says Hill wasnt that great a player and I didnt want to include him just for greatness away from the pitch. That deserves to be in a different list altogether

I too am only going on what others have told me about Jimmy not being the greatest but he must have had his moments of magic as he did score 5 in one away match and a hat rick of headers in another match inside 16 minutes. Also one season he scored 22 goals in 44 matches which is pretty good going.I read somewhere " Jimmy was  a key member of the 57-59 side which won promotion to Divisio One" and one of the reasons I suggested him.

So who would be your top ten Fulham greats?
We know who three possibly are.

jmac

I think you'd have to put Stevie Earle ahead of quite a few of those.

Nick Bateman

Jimmy Hill is a Fulham legend and would be in any Fulham top 50.

I would include Rufus Brevett, Ray Houghton, Clint Dempsey, Brian McBride and possibly Steve Sidwell albeit he only had 1 great season with us.  I think you should include George Best and Bobby Moore despite both being more synonymous with other clubs.

But a nice listing Dan!
Nick Bateman "knows his footie"

RaySmith

Good work Danny.

Though, re Nick's post above, I'm surprised that no-one mentioned Jimmy Hill- and I never thought of him myself.

But you've tried really hard to accommodate everyone's favourites - an almost impossible job I would have thought - but you've done it.

Cheers Ray, you are always very supportive and complimentary when I do these sort of things- poems etc... so thanks its appreciated. And your suggestions go a long way to improving my knowledge of the club.

Plus we are both Smith's so always have something in common as well as millions of others lol.

Earle was in the original list but quite a few felt he wasnt good enough for top 40 so I assumed he wasn't top 50 either. Blame everyone else for this one lol
