Man Utd sign 16 year old to 4 year contract

I thought there were stipulations preventing such lengthy contracts for youngsters? Obviously not? Begs the question why we couldn't offer, or chose not to offer, 4 year deals to the likes of Emo and so on.

Nothing wrong with it,  it's a one year scholarship till he's 17. At 17 the max you can offer is three years including the season it is in. Hence they say it's a 4 year deal.
