Do we see Dembele or Woodrow filling the void? I don't. I like Cauley a lot and he's a trier and still young, but both are a few years away from first team action for me.

We need another striker.

Smith and McCormac did not suffer any long injury spells last season. A suitable new striker would cost some £5m or so and would spend a lot of time bench warming. Dembele and Woodrow have to be given the opportunity to show their worth otherwise they will be off to pasture new.

Reinforcing the back four should remain our priority.

Said it the other night but Nathan Byrne, should be very attainable. Can't believe he was wasted as a defender. Could play out wide or through the middle and he just glided past players as if they weren't there. Actually somewhat reminded me of Dembele Senior although Byrne actually put a few in the back of the net.

Depending on what we spent on the one or two defenders I'd still go back to Blackburn right at end of window if Rhodes is  still there. They need the money and with Boro elsewhere and Prem sides not sure on him,  I'd offer eight and try to get for ten max as a cheeky bid.

Failing that, recall Mitroglu from loan and give him a serious run out in the league and he'll bang in goals.

Buy two defenders first.  Spend what is left on strengthening the strike force.  If we stop bleeding goals like we did last year our table position immediately becomes more attractive.  I think the creativity in the midfield that will develop will help with the goal scoring as well.

This is exactly it. I think Smith will surprise a few this year. McCormack is a strong forward too but if they get injured.. we're looking light. We need someone a bit older than Woodrow and Dembele with pace. McCormack and Smith lack this a bit and so someone with a bit of speed would really complement them IMO.

He'll get stuck into a few defenders, scare them s**tless leaving plenty of space for
us to create chances against  jelly-like defenses.
Amour will make Smith (who I rate) look like Bambi (not that Bambi)
