What is it with the modern game with grown men running around with pink football boots on? There are at least 4 players in this Man City game wearing them. What would the old football players of the past have to say if they saw this?

rusty shackleford

Which old footballers of the past? The homophobic ones? Who cares what colour their boots are

Are you suggesting that footballers wearing pink boots are gay?

rusty shackleford

Why else would old footballers of the past single that particular colour out? What about the players with yellow, purple and orange boots that youve failed to mention?

Im not the lad making a thread about "grown men wearing pink boots" as if its something to actually give a sh1t about

Its a generation thing .Nothing to do with homophobia .Personally ,just not keen on coloured boots , Copa mundial rule !

It's probably a condition in the contract by their sponsor where they have to wear what they're sent for advertising reasons.

Life is multi coloured nowadays. Few years back football boots were black as they were just boots to kick a football with.
Nowadays like everything else, it's a way for people to express themselves , fashion conscious or just showing off their personality.

No you were the person who made a comment about grown men wearing pink boots, as if they are different from all the other colours, and infering that grown men shouldn't wear pink as if there is something wrong with that.

The sensible post in this thread. Copas!!

In the old days of muddy pitches after ten minutes you would not have had any idea what colour boots a player was wearing. Nor yet whether the ball was green white or yellow. But I should guess the young players who had to clean them and put Dubbin on them would have had a thing to say. In the old days boots lasted the season and a knew pair of boots meant blisters. Now the players play in carpet slippers and probably have several pairs to chose from.

I must get a pair of pink boots to match my pink underpants!

Unbelievably over the top political correctness!! You can't say, do, comment, look or comment on anything these days without someone jumping down your throat, (not in a gay way either).

I know what you mean though, old school footballers who played for the love of the game wearing fluorescent Boots, (including pink ones)? Unheard of.

Thanks mate. It was an innocent comment about how much times have changed.

Actually Blanco , do you remember those George Best boots in the sixties ? They laced down one side and were a sort of dark purple colour ! Alan Ball wore those white boots for a while and looked really stupid (we thought ) and it then took years to catch on . It was like he was playing matches in his plimsoles ! My PE teacher would never have put up with that !!

You young boys have probably no idea what I'm talking about .

Blanco

Sorry the 60's are before my lifetime  :005: I'll take your word for it though. I noticed during the Arsenal game today Mertesackers boot came off and he just slipped it back on like a slipper. Boots definitely weren't like that back then.

What a minefield these pages have become !

Next thing will be to have Rhona Cameron* watching every word so she can shout "Homophobic!" at the earliest opportunity !

* Writer and broadcaster who can find the "H" word lurking in every human endeavour **
