If his sort-of rugby tackle was deemed by the ref to be violent conduct it will be three matches, but a 'professional foul' or 'denial of goalscoring opportunity' is usually only one (unless the miscreant has some previous), I think.

Very wrong I'm afraid. Remember when Betts got sent off against Watford? 1 match (thank god!) 
The only positive about that night was winning a tenner off nearly everyone around me that said it was three games.
