Our Free Kicks Tonight

On Tuesday night we won three free kicks in good attacking positions just outside the penalty area. All three were taken by Ross but none went anywhere near the goal This was unexpected as Ross is usually dangerous with this type of opportunity.

So I wonder what Kit's brief is for tonight will Ross continue to take these free kicks or will the duty be passed to Cairney or Pringle both of whom have a good shot from distance.

i think the free kick thing is a judgement call and kit knows who is best from the training ground. If Pringle and cairney are capable then IMO it is a good idea to mix it up a bit and not rely totally on ross. Iremeber when gale and lock shared the duty.

Horsfield_No9

No one will get a look in. I agree it's time for Pringle, O'Hara or Cairney to have a go. O'Hara scored 2-3 free kicks last season for Blackpool.
First game: Fulham 4 Burnley 0, December 12th 1998.

Sounds like an other area that the team need to spend hours and hours on the training field with, along with defending set pieces  :dft011:

No, just needs Kit, Pringle, Cairney and McCormac to stay on after training for 20 mins to take a few free kicks.

Wasn't Mattilla supposed to be a dead ball specialist - he did not get a look in on Tuesday.

I could see why Ross was unsuccessful with his second free kick in which he tried to hit on the ground through the wall - unfortunately the wall did not 'jump' but his radar was definitely off.

All freekicks should be a Ross free zone tonight.

Chutney

I can't believe people are suggesting pringle is better than ross at anything. Ross is so far ahead of pringle in footballing terms

Yep, I'll be a little dissapointed if Pringle even starts tonight. He has been in some poor form in the league. And a few decent crosses in the league cup don't make up for that
CHRIS MARTIN IS SO BAD,  WE NOW PRAISE HIM FOR MAKING A RUN.

Pringle has been a disappointment to me all season but his left crosses were looking good on Tuesday and he may have earned himself a place in tonight's team, the crosses would be missed

LVC looked good on Tuesday, particularly when moved to the wide right position and really should be played tonight.

It will be interesting to see Kit's selection.

do you know what most of us have occasions where things just don't go as planned, maybe just an off night,  or lets hang him now save time later.

Look it wasn't just the other day. We had a lot of it last season as well. A ratio of two or three a season should not equate to taking every bloody one.

It would be an idea tonight for Ross to shape up to take a shot but for someone else to actually take it. They will be expecting Ross to take it.

I want to see Jamie O'Hara on a few offensive free kicks and give them some whip. Ross McCormack is like a Cristiano Ronaldo when it comes to free kicks, he gets the odd few goals from them but it takes about 50 opportunities for it. I still think we've not had a specialist from a dead-ball since Bullard, you felt him scoring with every one.

I would've liked to have seen Kavanagh have a few last year too - he's got a fantastic left foot from a set piece, scored for Ireland U21s recently with a killer free kick.

But yeah, give Jamie O'Hara a couple from good positions tonight.

Ron91

He should not take all the free kicks as frankly those 3 on Tuesday were terrible. I thought this when he was stepping up for the third one i was wishing somebody else would take it but myself and the whole Hammersmith End was belting his name out before each free kick so he must of fed off that.

I got slated for saying Ross free kicks were bad last season. I don't think he has hit the target once apart from the odd ones he scored. He never works the keeper

Julius Geezer

O'Hara or Cairney for free kicks around the box.
