...Johnny Norman Haynes was born 17th October 1934 and would have been 81 today; he was to die 10 years ago on the 18th October 2005.

His last away game against Middlesbrough was on 19th October 1968, we lost 2-0 that day, let's hope that the current team will do their utmost to win against 'boro today, and hopefully reverse that score, for the Maestro...

Absolutely.  Couldn't think of better way to celebrate then a win  049:gif
Anyone can blend into the crowd.  How will you standout when it counts?

Just had a frightening thought - the Maestro was only 18 when I first saw him play. Oh dear!

I am so lucky to have witnessed his whole career. His like has not nor will be seen again.
RIP the Maestro.

If Pele said he was the best passer of a ball he ever saw that will do for me. I cherish the fact that I saw him play from 1973 onwards. RIP Johnny.

Would be a fitting tribute. Oh, how we could do with him today. The very first time I saw him play, even before his debut against Southampton, was in  the viewing room of a department store called Palmers Stores on the corner of King Street in Hammersmith. They used to let us kids watch television and they were showing an England v Scotland Schoolboy International. This young kid was dominating, to the extent that England won 8-2. That kid was Johnny Haynes and I was in awe, little realising that he would go on to sign for Fulham

Yes, he was played at too young an age. He may have been a great player with the proper coaching and more gradual progress.

Haha  :005: Excellent.

Of course, the normal rules do not apply to the truly great ones.
That's what makes 'em truly great, I suppose.
