Never understood why people refer to the "decline" of Newcastle..they've not won anything for decades, squander £millions (given to them by their fans from gate receipts, shoddy and overpriced merchandise) on underwhelming players and dodgy deals, and generally give nothing back to their long suffering supporters. Newcastle have nothing to decline from.
This takes nothing away from Shearer who clearly is upset by this.

i like newcastle and the people there.  but year in year out they turn out the most spineless and cowardly teams.
